Dont know if anyone posted this yet but I was at the local Big Lots here in Buffalo,NY & saw Havoline Synthetic 5/40 and 10/40 for $3.00 a quart.

I'd seen it here in Ashtabula BL also. I stick with an oil I know will be around after the experience I've had trying to find a brand I used when I started driving.

Big Lots had much 5W20, 5W30, etc., full synthetic Havoline for $3.00 a quart. They had Dino and Semi-Synthetic oil on sale too but I did not notice the price of it as the Full Synthetic caught my eye!

I loaded up on a couple of years worth of the 5W20 for both of our vehicles.

They had SLOB on the shelf too I noticed.

"NO BARGAINS when one can get PennzPlat at Peppies for $1.99/qt. w/rebate".

Hmmmmm How many want the hassle or the limit of rebates? Personal choice.Don't have a Pep Boys near you or you need oil today or this week? Oopps No Pep Boys rebate sale? Guess no oil change...

Also what is the price of PP at Pep Boys today? Near $5 a qt.

How about at everywhere else besides WalMart. Near $5 a qt?.

Guess $3 a qt is a bargain today after all

Just for the record:

At Wal-Mart-
PP 5w-20 is $3.80/qt when purchased in 5qt jug
All other PP is $4.00/qt when purchased in 5qt jug

Individual quarts are something like $5.18

, but last night I saw only a few cents' difference in the prices of regular dino oil brands. I have three quarts of 5w30 Castrol already, so I just needed one or two qts to facilitate changing the oil. I ended up getting 2 of regular Pennzoil and next oil change (around July) will just go with all Pennzoil.

Just talked with the neighbor. His vehicles call for 5W30 and I told him about the Havoline Synthetic (5W20) that I had bought at Big Lots and that they had 5W30 Synthetic too. He loaded up.

From time to time they have a 20% off anything sale too.

I would agree with that last statement IF the 3 bucks a qt. is for the Havoline FULL synthetic. There was NO FULL synthetic on the shelves at my local B.L.

what is the neighb's definition of loaded up?, just curious....

Normally, I'd say Havoline Synth is worth $6/q, esp in 5w-40 or 5w-20...but the new Deposit Shield is looking pretty good. With their new additive technologies, I wonder if we'll ever see a "dino" 5w-40 or an A3 5w-30?
