Best oil for new 2025 2.0L ecoboost?

i have a 2015 ford edge in mint condition however i just had the engine succumb to the design flaw of the cylinder block regarding the head gaskets. long story short i replaced the engine with a brand new 2025 factory 2.0L ecoboost, which has the design flaw fixed. i have already done the 500 mile oil change and used Castrol GTX. typically my choice of oils is in order of preference Redline, Royal Purple, Castrol, Valvoline all in 5-30 for my Edge and 5-20 in my mustang. i plan on driving this thing till the wheels fall off so i want some great longevity now that it no longer has an engine with the design flaw. one note of concern is there is a section of highway i travel a couple times a year with a steep canyon where on this new engine which currently has 1600 miles on it it will slightly over heat and go into limp mode for a 1 mile stretch. it didnt do that with the old motor. ive changed my coolant mixture to a 60/40 and used the recomended ammount of Rislone/water wetter. havent tested it yet though. what would be the best recomendation for oil for my application with standard driving and long road trips on the highway for 20% of its mileage. cost of Redline doesnt concern me as i can get it for the same price as Mobile 1 through my work?

Pretty much any good 30/40 grade oil. If you can get redline for cheap then use that if you want. But if you don't M1 esp 0w-30 is great. Castrol edge ep 5w-30 is well regarded as with Mobil 1 ep 5w-30. M1 and Castrol in both 0/5w-40's are great too and I like to run 40 in everything including two cars that spec 0w-20. But if you're overheating even by a little then maybe something a bit lighter.

Can't go wrong with regular Valvoline 5w-30 or the extended protection though it doesn't claim long drains just that it protects more than other 5w-30's but it doesn't have any approvals.

I'd use 0/5w-30 for the edge and mustang too. Some like to use Valvoline restore and protect in turbo gdi engines full time just to keep the rings clean long term and there's an argument for that. But if using something like redline I don't see that being an issue with normal drains.

i did forget to mention i plan on regular oil changes at 4000-4500 miles. previously i would use the built in oil change indicator and change it at 40% life. after learning better how that indicator works im going to completely ignore it and just go by my own strict log of 4k to 4.5k miles. ive watched far too many tear downs of blown motors that used extended oil changes 5k miles or more. with the ammount of money I paid for this motor oil changes seems like pocket change to me.

Jeez if you can get Redline at the same price as M1, I'd just do that. They have gone crazy on their prices lately. I think it's a pretty universally-respected oil here. May not be the best for extended drains from what I've read here, but with the Ecoboost, that probably wouldn't be for the best any way. So I'd run the nicest Redline oil you can stomach paying for.

That part about your engine going into limp mode on a highway is pretty concerning. I'd definitely run Amsoil, HPL, or a Euro oil with a MB 229.5/229.51/229.52 or VW 504 cert that can stand up to those high temps. That just doesn't seem normal to me, frankly though. I might bring it into your Ford dealer again...

Nothing wrong with RL, especially at a reasonable price. I'm curious as to what's causing your overheat issue in the Canyons though? I know that would bother me, since it wasn't present before.

my guy who put the new motor in it for me said it could be that its still kin of breaking in. and should resolve in a few thousand miles. the particular stretch of road is rather brutal and the section it doesnt like is a 2 mile stretch of like 8% grade. im going to test my new 60/40 with water weter soon up that canyon, but in the mean time i have noticed a huge difference in cooling ability with normal city driving as the temp guage runs lower but not too low

where i work i can get any redline for about a dollar less than i can get mobil 1 in any store. the only reason i dont always get it is because as an employee i have to use exact change cash which can be really problematic and a royal pain when you never carry cash
