I tried three different styles of oil filter wrenchs and I could not loosen my oil filter. Any experience with what type of wrench works best?

Strap wrench is my go to when they are very tight.

What have you tried so far?

the cap style is my favorite for the fords with the horizontal filter. the pliers posted above are my last resort as i cut every filter open and they can destroy the case.

I've got a Ford Police Interceptor with the 3.5 EB, and have this exact tool. Works well enough with the space, thru a cutout in the skid plate, that I bet is tighter than OP's F150.

Also, what about the K&N filters with the nut on the end of them? They seem like a good option for oil filters that are hard to get a wrench on.

slightly off topic, but can we talk about the MESS that changing a filter on this style of ford. i’d rather the tray not be there and drain straight down. it always comes out the back and front drain spouts and then you have to mop the cavity of the tray dry.

This is what I use. T-handle with swivel on the oil filter end. That way you don’t newd 3 hands to do it. Reaches easy-peasy from the front.
