Best DECAF whole bean coffee?

I'll have to try this one. I like that it's swiss water method; only way to go with decaf in my opinion.
FYI, depending on what promos they're running at the time, sometimes it's cheaper (and fresher) to buy direct, but you've got to factor in shipping cost, unless you spend over $75...

I guess I haven't bought whole bean coffee in some time. A 2lb bag was $22 back in 2022. Now it's showing $42. :(

Knowing the Decaf process is important... I think SFB is one of the very, very best with it's Swiss process....

Best coffee thread!!

Ha Peet's Major Dickason Decaf Bean is really hard to beat. Any other competition?

I make my own ~half caff espresso.
Dazbog Vail mountain coffee, and Caribou coffee. All three are Colorado coffee companies

Dazbog has 8 decafs. Impressive. Troika only is 11 oz or 5 pounds. Interesting.
Caribou - the Cross Fox looks great and wow low price. Interesting.
Vail Mountain - Bridge Street Blend - 12 oz or 5 pounds?? "The water used is sourced from the coastal mountains of British Colombia,"

I have enough coffee now, plus an incoming load from Harborside Kodiak Island. Will keep these in mind

The wife buys some fancy pants decaf coffee that supposedly doesn't have carcinogen residuals. I'll see what the brand is.

I drink Nescafe Classic instant decaf in packets. My heart goes nuts with more than minimal caffeine levels since the jab.

I don't particularly love the Major Dickason Decaf - I can never get a good cup of coffee no matter which grind settings I try. Maybe it's user error?

How are you brewing?

Honestly I have ONLY used it in my espresso machine, I just had a cup. Very good, even if overly extracted. Sweet, deep, chocolate. If I cut off the run a bit early still nice crema and silky smooth.

Maybe this doesn't come out in typical drip/pour over (?)

Seems I’ve been into Ethiopian beans lately. I’ve preferred the medium roasts lately.

Pablo……. ever considered roasting your own?

What don't you like about the brew?
Just tried making a cup today. #18 setting on the baratza grinder, normal dosage for the coffee maker.

Brewed Cup tasted like muddy water.

Used similar settings for a different brand of beans yesterday and it was normal.

Makes me wonder if bad or stale beans. I’ve dusted my last sack - what is the date (not sure where marked)?

That’s probably pushing the envelope. Open bag and so near the date usually stale and that is my standing complaint about Costco (not knowing where you got them just saying )

Well anyway just chuck them I suppose but what a waste - sucks

I agree with you on too much caffeine hence this thread. Cut in half and delay from drinking coffee first thing in the morning
