My gf bought me a Keurig coffee maker awhile back and I`ve been experimenting with different coffees trying to find the best one. I have one of those K-Cup adapters so I can use my own coffee instead of those pre-packaged cups.

I need STRONG coffee. I prefer the darkest blend possible. What`s the darkest, strongest, and best tasting coffee money can buy? And is there a secret to getting the Keurig to make it stronger? Best coffee I`ve tried so far is Seattle's Best.

Also,is buying whole beans and grinding them yourself the best way to go? Or is that just too much trouble? If it`s the best way to go,who makes the best bean grinder and where would I find it?

I find the standard electric bean grinder does a fine job. Keep it clean.

Per a recommendation here, I get "community coffee" thru amazon. It may not be the darkest in the world, but it is pretty drinkable.

Community is [censored] for strong. Get one of their darker blends and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

edit: I see great minds think alike!

"Strongest Coffee Guaranteed"

"...guarantee that you will not find a stronger, more flavorful, organic coffee on the market anywhere or we will buy the coffee back from you."

I personally have never tried it. I prefer Starbucks French Roast or Italian Roast as it is their boldest two roasts. I'm not a Starbucks junkie. I have just found that is is the more easily found bold rost around here OTC. I really like them.

The strongest I've found is a little coffee shop in Westlake (Austin) TX called Trianon. They make an Italian Roast so dark the beans will soak an un-lined paper bag with oil. I'm drinking a cup brewed from beans I bought there this morning right now

Their website is pretty primitive, but it has an E-mail address and maybe they ship if you contact them? I really don't know.

Starbucks Italian Roast isn't bad for the McDonalds of the coffee world.

PS- Whole bean stays fresh far better than pre-ground. I agree with others, don't obsess over the grinder and buy into all that "double burr is the only way to go" business. Yes, its better, but not by much. Sorta like the way PU is "better" than PP- not enough to pay the difference in price. I like my little Hamilton-Beach (home) and Mr. Coffee (office) top-loading blade grinders just fine. $18 at Mal-Wart.

A cup of well-prepared Turkish coffee. If you prefer mild, try espresso.

1. Get an espresso coffee. It should have more robusta and it will be dark roasted.

2. Use less water.

+1

My first cup was while traveling in Turkey -nothing else comes close except my French press, but that is because I like the ritual of making it.

There ia alot of extra bold coffee's that you can get with the keurig. I like the extra bold variety pack. and the rev ones. they are like energy drink coffee's. Go on the keurig website and check them out. there is a ton of different ones you would enjoy. or you could get the ones for travel mug sizes and they seem to be a bit stronger.

You do realize that LIGHTER roasts have more caffeine...

Roasting actually bakes off the caffeine so the lighter the roast, the less kick it has.

I think you meant to say "so the DARKER the roast, the less kick it has."

True, but I ASSume he's talking about taste. Personally I really can't stand most light roasts anymore, thought a good post-roast blend of dark and light roasts can be excellent. And for those who say "just brew it stronger," uh, that's just not the way it works. Gotta brew strong AND have a dark roast.

Most Lavazza espresso is not very dark at all, it's much lighter than French Roast.

So, darkness is not an attribute of strength.
Coffee is brown, not black anyway.

Needsducktape, people who are not used to Turkish coffee usually complain about the muddy texture (grounds) of it.Interesting you liked it.
