Mazda does not equal Ford! They've made quite a few changes to anything Ford that they use these days, and it almost seems that Ford = Mazda, because that's where the real tech-raiding goes on.

But, I would use MC 5W-20 if I had a 3...

The "master Technical" you spoke with is masterfully stupid. This dealer and technician should be reported to the Mazda Canada national service manager. If you can't find out who that is, contact Al Harvey, the Western Canadian Parts and Service Manager for Mazda Canada. He can be reached out of thier office in Richmond, British Columbia.

Exactly! Many Mazda dealers aren't noted for having "master-mechanics." It's been largely [censored] service that has really taken a great product down a notch, it's one of their biggest hurdles to overcome. People tend to love the cars, not the car stealerships of MazdaUSA.

Hello Kris,

Thank you for contacting Mazda.

In regards to your inquiry, synthetic oil is not recommended by Mazda because it has not yet been tested on Mazda vehicles. You should go by the information listed on your owners manual.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda and allowing us the opportunity to respond to your inquiry.

I've been running synthetic in my MazdaSpeed 6 (10W-30) and plan on doing so in our new CX-9. The manual doesn't tell me not to, so that's good enough for me.
