I bleed some brake fluid this week, that had so much water in it, I actually boiled it using the propane torch to loosen the bleeder screws. The rear wheel cylinders didn't even had any brake fluid in them. No wonder my friend's dad kept complaining he couldn't stop the vehicle very well. 71 Mustang fastback BTW :)

The scary thing is the majority of cars never have their brake fluid changed until they require major brake work. Most manufacturers recommend a 2-3 year interval, but I change my cars' fluid annually. It's so cheap and easy it seems silly not to, since an ABS modulator costs a whole lot more than a few quarts of brake fluid. I use a Vacula vacuum bleeder and flow 250 ml per cylinder.

If you have a manual transmission, don't forget to bleed the clutch system, too.
