Trust Ford they know what they doing Folks
Yea, no.Trust Ford they know what they doing Folks
No, as previously discussed, the 1.0L has a wet timing belt, and so does the 1.5L non-turbo 3cyl Dragon. But the 1.5L EcoBoost 3cyl Dragon has a timing chain with a wet-belt-driven oil pump
This is correct. Saw the ford manual at the dealer with my own eyes. 1.5l ecoboost 3 has a chain! Im at 130,000 on my 21 escape. Motor runs perfect
Only ford knows why they designed it this way. Most likely for longevity. What gets me is that the new I3's have a timing chain but still use an oil pump belt. What sense does that make?
We have seen Fords better ideas.Trust Ford they know what they doing Folks
Only ford knows why they designed it this way. Most likely for {ease of manufacturing} {cost}.
Just like the newest 5.0Ls in the F-150. They now have a wet belt for the oil pump driveWhat gets me is that the new I3's have a timing chain but still use an oil pump belt. What sense does that make?
I trust that Ford does the lowest cost design that is designed to fail. Countless people screwed over by Ford Focus DCT's wasnt enough to tank the company.
I Do Cars strips down engines for a living, and the belt on this 1.0 looked absolutely horrid. This engine is on my permanent s**t list.
I’m glad to hear this ford has been getting a bad rap . Look we all know ford is gonna sell regardless of what they put out . Folks are all in for American Made union built blah blah . But let’s trust ford to built quality products okJust to update you all my 2021 1.5l 3 is now at 206,000 miles and running beautifully (knock on wood) doing about 10,000 mile oil changes (all highway) with Amsoil xl 5w30(yes went to 5w30 just because) avg. 32 plus mpg on highway. RI reallylike my Escape and hope it runs aanother 200,000 miles!
that's why I did not buy one when shopping for a vehicle. The new Trax 3cyl also uses a wet belt driven oil pump. So not just Ford.
Sounds like you got good life from that engine!Update guys my oil oump belt degraded and plugged oil pump pickup. Got low oil pressure warning at a stop light and shut it off. At 264,000 miles. In thee shop hectares new engine as we speak. Dealer wanted $6,300 to replace the belt. Private mechanic wanted 4,500. Engine install..$2500. Rebuilt engine with warranty 3,000.
Sure. I trust them to build some very sketchy stuff. 4-cyl ecoboost engines (Mustang etc) that have head gasket issues and now oil pumps driven by a belt that is exposed to sump oil. Sounds wonderful.Trust Ford they know what they doing Folks
Well, the belt was due 114,000 miles ago!Update guys my oil oump belt degraded and plugged oil pump pickup.
That’s why it has a 10 year replacement interval.Id imagine time, more than miles, takes it's toll on the belt. Many miles in a short time the belt would make it to 250k, but in 15 years?
