BUT it's an API SL oil , so does this spell trouble for any newer (2010+) engines ??
THANKS

No issues whatsoever. SL is still current certification and API is not stringent that much.
MORE importantly is that oil meets ACEA A3/B3 B4, MB 229.5, VW 502.00 and BMW LL-01 which is now most stringent gas engine specification.
I would use it in Ecoboost like all the time if you can find it on sale. I used exhaustively that oil in my VW's (Passat B5.5 1.8T, CC 2.0T, and Tiguan 2.0T). It is probably best oil I have ever used in those cars. However, price does not justify purchase since Castrol 0W40 is $25 for 5qt jug in Wal Mart and it is same formula.
Well I may end up driving back there (about 45mins away) and buy all they've got because on paper at least it looks great.
I'm actually sitting on a 5qt jug of Mobil 1 0w-40 "Euro" based on an exchange we had.
For some reason I can't find a good local source of ow-40 Castrol Edge. (been to Wal-Mart and the 4 local parts supply chains)
Was thinking of holding off on the Mobil 1 0w-40 until April and going lighter with next change early NOV. for the "winter" season.
