Hello

I’ve got a Genesis, battery in the trunk. The vent tube isn’t connected and there is what looks to be a plastic cap over what I assume to be the hole. I tried popping it out but it didn’t move. I didn’t want to force it. Is this where the vent should go?

Is the plastic cap on the other side missing? Typically the batteries include a provision to vent on each side. If the car came with a battery vent provision, you should connect the vent line. If one vent cap is missing, the battery is presently venting into the trunk; not ideal. If both vent caps are plugged, remove the appropriate one and connect the vent tube to it. The vent tube should have a 90degree elbow or some adapter to connect to the battery vent hole.

Yeah, the one on the other side is missing.

First time seeing a vent plug that's not removable - that's annoying. Maybe you can extend the vent tube to the open vent on the other side?

Replies in a similar Reddit thread suggest it is removable, but very difficult: link

You'll want to get the plug out intact as well to plug the hole on the other side. You don't want to leave an open vent hole.

Putting a small screw in it so you have something to pull on sounds like a good idea. You could leave the screw in the plug or fill the screw hole with silicone.

Here’s a picture of the battery but I ended up taking the cap out of the one closest to the tube and putting it on the other side and then attaching the tube.
