basic AR for really good price...

I have wondered what is better 4, $500.00 ARs or 1, $2000.00 AR ??
Depends on purpose. Just a basic range plinker at 25-50yds? $500 is more than fine.
Doing 3 gun comps or hunting? Probs gonna spend some more.

I made a 6.8SPC all from PSA stuff for well under $500. Actually MORE accurate than my DD 5.56 AR (my very first, thought I needed to spend $1200) - I think that might be more the cartridge and chamber than anything.

I love shooting 6.8SPC, but alas...........dinosaur

Any love for the Smith & Wesson m&p15? I bought one back in 2020 for $550 w/Magpul + iron sights. Sold it a few years ago but it seemed to work well enough, and cheap enough that scratching it from speed reloads wasn't an issue.
Plenty. I still have mine. Lots of rifle for not a lot of $$$ when I got it. Mine has a straight (non-waisted) 5R barrel, with a mid length gas block. 1:8 "gain" twist that S&W incorporated after acquiring Thompson Center, pioneers on the progressive rifling technology. Melonite treatment internally instead of chromed, all from the factory. Nice shooter.

Grendel is the new hotness. 6.8SPC was kewl for about 3 months.

I don't have experience with Del-ton but you can find them new, without sights, from around $380 at Dahlonegagaga but add in shipping/taxes/transfer fee. I think it's a fantastic bargain for a full-railed AR and you can get 1:7 or 1:9 mid-length versions.

PSA sometimes have good daily deals and you should check the webpage if you're in the market. I think less than a week ago they had Ruger MPRs for $550, then $600 - probably the cheapest within the last 5 years.

I think LE trade-ins is a great way to go too.

Maybe 4. But yeah, I still have some ammo and mess of mags. Plus dies and brass

Frankly it is a great cartridge
Everything old is new again, for a while.
RIP the original 6.5 that was (maybe) used on JFK. Or was 6.5 Japanese first? Both were before the Swede 6.5 I'm pretty sure ;)

Not even gonna mention the Greek version. I forgot about it until I decided I'd google Carcano vs Japanese age......

6-7mm seems like a sweet spot

Plenty of velocity - distance
Mass- energy
Surprisingly low shoulder feedback

Just MHO

I built a PSA for a friend a few years back. I paid for all the parts (as a thanks for something he had done for me).

I got the CHF 18” kit (their premium kit/cold hammer forged barrel) with rifle length gas system, on sale for just under $400. Add in the cost of the lower, and it all came to $450. I put some Magpul irons on it, so, just a bit over $500.

It’s a genuinely good gun. Reliable from round one. Accurate. The trigger is milspec and works pretty well, though it’s no Geissele. 1:7 twist, so it can handle any ammo. It’s not picky, we’ve run a variety of ammo through it.

I would not hesitate to buy/build another. They’ve gone up a hair in price.

Oh, and we added a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8 that PSA had on sale, with the mount, for about $300. Again, my treat, so, we’ve got about $850 in the rifle, and it’s about perfect as an all around shooter.

OP here...the Del-ton AR deal fell thru! had to sell & pay medical bill! I am no longer active in this thread...

I got a blem upper and lower from psa.
I couldn't even find the blem
Then just buy your bolt carrier and charging handle
