Baldwin Filters

Finally got my Baldwins, 1431 instead of 1402 for my Civic. Bright red can, nitrile adbv, solid as a rock. Very impressed and the cost was $5.07CAD each. I paid $9.89CAD for a Napa Gold 1356 a few weeks ago. The Baldwins were a bit tough to get but well worth it. Can't wait to slap it on at my next change!

One thing I did notice was the Napa Gold is heavier than the Baldwin in my hands... any ideas why? The Napa Gold is the new small Honda and the Baldwin is oversized. Both are mighty solid though.

..and go out and buy another NAPA Gold and hack into them and compare.

Come on! You're itching to find out why the NAPA is heavier ...

I'd hack into one if my toolbox had something more than a screwdriver. Send me a hacksaw or a filter cutter.

By the way, I broke my can opener on a Honda OEM.

If you're looking for Baldwin filters In Canada, try your local peterbilt or kenworth truck dealer. Baldwin has a national account program with them as does Fleetguard and Donaldson. So each dealer has a choice what to sell.

That's interesting as a truck parts place here carries Baldwin and is right next door to a Pete shop...

I have a friend who has a filter cutter at his shop ..but I didn't want to wait. I quess I really should get one since I appear to be in this for the long haul.

The Balwins are a good filter but I'm still not convinced the "short tube" version for some applications are "OK" because Baldwin says so.I use the B2 and Honda part numbers but not the Chev applications for the newer engines due to the media holding the filter from colasping on itself.The NAPA gold has ,so far,been a great filter consistently and have no doubts in it's use.By the way Acklands Grainger in Canada sells Baldwin filters..

Kearney, Nebraska is their home base and main manufacturing location.

They also have some manufacturing in Mexico I believe and source filters from globally besides those they buy in the USA.

They were originally founded by J.A. Baldwin.
J.A. loved his Jags, got a new one every year..

They were sold to Clarcor in the early 90's.
