Biggest oil filter for 93 Altima?

I've been digging through old threads here for an hour or so looking for oil filter recommendations for my 93 Altima. So far, I haven't really gotten any good sources of info relating to a rock-solid recommendation of a filter for my car. Does my 93 KA24De need a bypass valve in the oil filter? Using the Fram recommendation, PH3682 then cross referrencing that on Baldwin's website, I get their B113
filter. This one doesn't state the bypas valve's psi rating, so am I correct in assuming this filter doesn't have one? This filter is a good length, but if it doesn't have a bypass valve, maybe I should avoid it. The Baldwin B1402
does appear to have a bypass valve, but it's almost an inch shorter than the B113. Should that concern me? Also, these Baldwin filters make no mention (on the website anyway) about the ADBV, I assume these ones are Nitrile. Should I perhaps consider a filter with a Silicone ADBV instead, or would the Baldwin filter work just as well?

both the ka24e and vg30e don't use the filters bypas. I'm not sure if the ka24de is the same way. Why not check the nissan part number for both the ka24e and de to see if it matches.

however, it doesn't hurt to have one, so you don't need to avoid one. If you want you can use an 3600 equivalent or an 8a equivalent if that will fit. That's the filter I use on my VG30e equipped vehicle


I would be wary about using a smaller filter just because it doesn't have a bypass valve.

The PH8a might leak. Nissan doesn't give excess filter gasket space on some motors. But, you could try it yourself. The PH8a might also bump into the oil pressure sender or wire.

The PH3600 is your best bet and is what I've used in several KA24's. Its a common Ford size and easy enough to xreference for the brand that you choose.

The OEM requirements for the older 3/4" Nissan mounts doesn't list a bypass valve. Think of it as added insurance if the built in(???) bypass in the oiling circuit fails.
