Here is A PS filter from Advaced Auto part#2210. This used to be a good source of cheap 3/8 Magenfines but they have changed suppliers To Dynapak. I cannot find out much about them.
I wanted to see the internal construction of these filters but didn't have and immediate need for a ps or at filter so I used it as a coolant filter for about a 2 week 850 mile run on a crusty 96 S10 that had original dexcool in it(I still have a sample) that I'm still trying to clean up after new rad, hoses and flush. The truck had 38k miles on it when I flushed and did all the work, any way back to the filter.
It certainly not Magnefine but the construction is good. As you can see in the pic it is magnetized(caught some metal goop) and has a spring loaded bypass. The cellulose media was pretty tough and held up to the coolant well for a the relatively short run. It is a metal can much like a large fuel filter so that IMO is a plus over a Magnefine as far as durability is concerned. All in all it looks like a good filter for $10-12 bucks
