Went to autozone today and was told by someone who works there that they are getting some new product offerings. Other than the STP ML oil filter that just came out. They will be starting to receive Royal Purple Oil and Filters. Also some more liquimoly options are coming as well I was told. Its 41 usd for 5 quarts and 13 for a quart.

I also saw a sign for it that has a deal of this with an stp xl filter is 37 dollars. I know royal purple does not have the biggest rep. But I wonder if this will be a good thing in any way or if it will end up being DOA. Since cost is normally the issue people have with royal purple.

I will be happy to have Liqui Moly available near me finally.

The SAE stuff is a huge waste of money. HPS is the real stuff, which is excellent.

RP price too rich for my blood. Doubtful the filter will be price competitive with other equivalents. So, only good I see here, perhaps when it doesn't sell it will go on one of those AZ clearance huge markdown sales. Looking at posted price, "huge" being operative word.

Not a bad price, either

Royal Purple API, is a good oil, though a bit expensive unless you get on sale, the HPS line is one of the best, but harder to find.

I got my Napa store to stock Hps and the owner said it sells pretty well. I’m using XPR in a very well maintained suv and it’s cleaning something deep in the engine as evident by my paper towel checking the oil. I’ll run Royal purple all year round if it’s competitively priced. Especially Hps and XPR.

Is RP ever competitively priced vs it’s contemporaries?

I have no idea what makes RP special.

I suspect AZ added the line due to the advertising coop dollars RP is will to contribute.

It’s not outrageously priced by any means. I just got 6 qts during amazons spring sale for $60. It’s a few bucks more than Mobil 1 at Walmart and people on here act like it’s 500% more.

Which RP? $10/quart (on sale no less) is ~40% more than ESP, one of if not Mobil 1's best offering.
This was XPR 0w20, not their api auto parts store blend. I wouldn’t pay or go out of my way for the api oil, but I also wouldn’t pass it up if it was a good deal.
