exactly what the title states.

I've got a 1.8l 4 banger that I want to use autoRX in. it holds only 4 qts. which according to franks site would be 8oz of auoRX.

what are you guys using to measure out exact dosages??

thanks

Nothing fancy. My car uses 4.5 qts of oil, needs 9 oz Auto-Rx for a full treatment. I use a little juice glass that originally contained some kind of cheese spread, it holds about 4.25 oz by test. It's easy to eyeball a reasonably accurate 3/4 full, & hold that back. Then empty the bottle into the engine, & pour the glass back into the Auto-Rx bottle.

Or just use a measuring cup- but if it's plastic, I wouldn't use it in the kitchen again!

For your car anything you can use to hold a measured 4 oz should work fine.

I gotta find something that measures out 8 oz.

let me be more in depth with what I'm about to do.

I've got a 2001 toyota celica gt. it has the 1zz engine which can be found in the corolla, matrix, mrS spyder, and even the pontiac vibe.

anyways I've got about 108k on the clock. I have used 3k OCIs religiously and have only used castrol gtx and gtx high mileage (switched over to HM @ about 80k). I just have read over and over about the "greatness" of autoRX so I figure ill give it a shot

The fill caps that come with Pepto Bismol/Nyquil/etc. because they have 1-2 ounce measurements. When adding it to my differential, I measured it out ounce by ounce in the cap and then used a small syringe, which was given when I had my wisdom teeth cut out, to suck it up and inject it into the differential fill plug.

There are 8 oz in a cup, so you can use cooking measuring cups. A 1/4 cup is 2 oz and I like using multiple dumps from little cups for their smaller surface area (less surface for residual Auto-RX to stick to and be wasted).

Styrofoam cup. Measure out 4 ounces of water, mark the cup, pour out the water (dry the cup, duh), and use it to measure RX.

Heck, I can free pour two thirds of a bottle close enough for a 4 quart sump application. A 10% error factor will not doom the application, either short or tall.

There is a cheap container you can find at Target that is made of plastic and can measure in oz. That is what I use.

When you re-fil your engine with oil, dump your second quart half out.In this second quart, look at the clear sight line on the side of the oil bottle. Now,add Rx to the oil bottle until the level reaches the desired quantity of Rx you want to add.Empty this into the engine.
Add a little of the next quart to this Rx+oil bottle and swish around and get the residual off the sides of the bottle.

Rugerman1,

You are the man. To take it one step forward, one could pour 8 fluid ounces of oil out of the bottle, using the view stripe. Then add ARX to this bottle back to the 32 fluid ounce mark. Shaken not stirred and move on. Are you a bartender, or just a keen fluid management guru?

The instructions that came with my Auto-Rx states to use 2 oz per quart of oil, PLUS 2 additional oz for the filter. Total 10 oz per 4 quart system.

I go into the kitchen and I get out the measuring cups used for baking. I measure 8 ounces of water. I pour the water in a empty paper coffee cup, a plastic bottle, a slurpee cup or whatever. I put the measuring cup back.

In the disposable cup, the water has risen to a point in the cup/bottle. I mark exactly where this 8 ounce mark is with a pen, or exato blade. [OK, I know i should have used 7.6 ounces! Sue me!]

I dump the water. I dab a paper towel into the empty cup/bottle to absorb any left over water.

Then I pour the Auto Rx into 'whatever' and fill it to the mark. I put the ARX in to the crankcase of the engine.

Then I go back into the kitchen. I get out a drinking glass. Using a pure guestimate I pour approximately 1.5 ounces of whiskey in to the glass. I hesitate. I refer back to Frank's instructions just to make sure I've done everything correctly.

Everything looks good. Then I open a beer for a chaser....

NOTE: I know that i should have measured 7.6 ounces instead of 8.0. Sue me.

I have a 32oz bottle of Stabil I bought at the local Ace hardware that measures one ounce by squeezing it. I have not tried filling it yet but I see no problem since it has a separate cap for the main part of the bottle. Has the approved stamp on the bottom too. I need to dump the Stabil and give it a try tomorrow. You can see a picture of the bottle at this site http://www.autobarn.net/ch1108b.html

ACE use to also sell a 2cycle oil in the same type of bottle (maybe still do) but I think it measure a little more then an ounce. Probably whatever amount of oil is required for 1 gal of gas.

Both these products are fairly cheap enough to justify buying for the bottle.
