Automotive Longevity. How Long Will it Last

There are plenty of members on this site with cars over 250k miles.

All makes and models.

Mazdas, Honda Civics (@harry j), Volvos (@Astro14), Ford Fusion and Focus (@tig1) to name a few.

They all have one thing in common: meticulous maintenance with superior lubricants.

On the subject of automotive longevity, thick oil proponents often cite the taxicab study that showed thick is better and studies showing at higher RPM HTHS protects from wear.

I love thin oil but it is hard to argue against these studies.

Is there similar studies showing thin oil is better in certain scenarios or that warm up wear is minimized with thin?

I my mind the only Scenario that counts in my mind is what oil are cars using that excede 500K miles!
