I was at Wal-Mart today to pick up some Motorcraft oil filters and Mixed in with them were Autolite oil filters and a sign saying.
"Autolite your alternative to Motorcraft filters"
Box and labeling are very similar. They look like e-cores and did not have silcon valve.
My guess they are made by Fram. They were priced at $2.38
I don't know if they are new to people here but I have never seen them in this part of the northwoods.

What?

So they jack up the price of the Motorcraft filters and then sell a cheap filter with another Ford name as an alternative? I don't know why Ford would let them get away with that. What makes them more of a Motorcraft alternative then Supertech or Fram?

I saw the Autolite filters as well. Definitely trying to appeal to the Ford peaople who remember the name for more than spark plugs. Years back Autolite supplied many OEM parts for Ford. These new filters even use the Motorcraft numbering system. Unfortunately they appear to be Fram cheapo units. Bad filters and waste of a good name at the same time.

We have already had a thread going on these filters. I started it a while back. Glad someone else has seen these filters because some people still have not run across them yet. Being made by Honeywell, they have to be an even cheaper quality Fram.

Sorry I am so late on the topic, but i just found the thread today.

From what I have heard, WM will no longer carry Motorcraft filters, but will instead carry Autolite. They wanted something to compete with the "wall of orange." Even though we all know that FRAM and Autolite are both owned by Honeywell. To me, it doesn't appear to be Honeywell's idea of doing this, it is all WM. I'm assuming that the FRAM and Autolite filter will be identical.

I cut open an Autolite filter a few weeks ago. It is 100% FRAM built and looks identical to the Extra Gaurd filters. It did not look any cheaper, or better. It did appear however that the ADBV had a little bit of glue on the side that mounted to the carboard. I haven't noticed this on previous FRAM's.

I missed this thread on the original go-round, but Steve's words below had me nearly laugh out loud...truer things have not yet been said:

"A lower cost filter made by Fram should be the next big joke on BITOG."

" It did appear however that the ADBV had a little bit of glue on the side that mounted to the carboard. I haven't noticed this on previous FRAM's."

Maybe they're finally trying to fix their ADBV problem.

Definately not the way I'd do it.
