Mr Flatland, we can't give Cermax a title until I finish my test. We are not doing a scientific test but between Terry and I we will have some answers. You have to give us some time because I can't control the testing if I don't do the mixing and driving and I have to work almost every day of the week and Terry has a day job, too. When we are done, you can slap a title on it and we will all applaud with you.

You aren't by any chance testing the 'magic potion' in an automatic transmission? Cuz that's what I was replying to.

As unlikely the product claims sound to me, I will refrain from commenting until your testing is complete.

I have put it in my automatic transmission. It was improving the shifting(especially downshifting), even though I have Synlube in it. The Synlube also improved it from the previous stage, but Cermax seem to do things even better. I just tell what I experience, even though I had this prejudise that it was not possible to improve Synlube. I was wrong. I like to try different things.Because of this, it is not any use in doing a used oil analysis, because of the special chemistry of Synlube(lot of colloids).

flatlandtacoma, after I discovered Cermax, I don't recommend ANY snake-oil. I will use Cermax. It does everything Auto-Rx, Motorsilk and other good products does. Only better. However, when I see a person here on the board, speculating in if he should risk his engine by using Auto-Rx, then I recommend Auto-Rx. It is better than plain oil. When this person learn that not all additives are snake-oil, he may try another product next time. Up to date, no other products that I have tested, give the results that Cermax do. The second best is Synlube, and Auto-Rx is number 3.

Auto-Rx is not an oil additive it does not change oil chemistry, it cleans metal and it will also clean out bad chemistry. Anyone concerned Auto-Rx hurts anything is misinformed. I want customers who read our websites-applications-customers comments.

It have been proven to be, but the world is moving forward and new products and new solution is coming, every day. I have been using Auto-Rx a lot. I have also recommended it to friends and family. It is a good product, but Cermax seem to perform better, especially when it comes to energy saving and reducing friction(increasing performance). The technology is safe, as well.

Another advantage, is that you don't have to do more than ONE treatment. The maintenance dose is not necessary, but can in some cases, reduce fuelconsumption more.

I noticed on the Cermax web site a glaring warning that states to never use the maintenance dose in an automatic transmission? Any idea of why that is ?

I think we should not get the two products mixed up. Auto-Rx is a known quantity and in fact does what it claims to do. Cermax is unknow to us as a group and my testing along with other's experience is what we should be looking for, not a snake-oil stamp. Jonny has used the product and is happy with it, but we need more info, kind of like Number 5. We should take this thread back to Auto-Rx and transmissions. We can talk about Cermax when we know more about it.

Rick20, this should be because the Cermax is already where it should be (0.0002 mm into the metal) and since it is not wearing, the extra Cermax you add will only float around in the ATF-fluid. This is not wanted. In engines, this is wanted. That's where an MD comes into picture.

It is a sad thing noone is here to correct me if I am wrong about this.

So we must be talking about sealing metal or the pores rather down to 2 microns deep. There must be a reaction process to bond this material to ferrous metals or other metallics. So I guess my question is the product reactive in sealing all metals found in a motor or just ferrous metals?

In my estimation a fair amount of mechanical wear occurs in a transmission as well as a motor. So why wouldn't a maintenance dose help there as well.
