Hello,
I have seen a good deal of success stories here and elsewhere about AutoRX and am considering performing it on my car, but I am very leery of "fix-in-a-bottle" solutions. More specifically, I am afraid that cleaning out the engine may result in more leaks on the car, so I wanted to get some questions answered.
First of all, I see many good results here on the site. Have there been any bad-results from this treatment? I am ignoring those who didn't follow the directions properly, so I am looking for true failures. In those cases, what problems were "created"?
My car (1993) has 151k miles on it (V6). It's been running Mobil 1 5w30 since I bought it (in 1996 w/34k miles on it). Currently, I am going through O2 sensors on the front bank, but other than that the car is running well. A friend of mine commented that I may be experiencing valve seal issues which is causing oil to contaminate the O2 sensor. He also mentioned that the car puffs a little blue smoke when I gear change when driving hard (during throttle-off) which is why he thinks it's the valve seals. Is this a possible scenario for my O2 sensor problems? Does the diagnosis of the valve-seals seem to be correct, or would it be something else? (Oil loss on the engine was about 1 qt every 3k miles or so, but that was before I repaired a leaking oil pressure sending unit).
Is there anything I should look out for before trying the AutoRX treatment? Basically, I don't want to end up "creating" leaks in the process!
Any advice is appreciated.
