Hello all, just need some opinions. My g/f has just gotten a 2006 Toyota 4runner sport edition from her brother. He has put just over 85K on it in 2 years, (insists on using M1 5W30 only ((we will see about that)) and toyota oil filters (denso).

Would an auto-rx cycle be good for it? Or since the suv has had so many miles put on it, it has obviously seen A LOT of highway miles and the motor and oil has had an easy life is it really not necessary at this point? Couldn't hurt?

Just asking for opinions is all.

Thanks for your time!

I personally would say as long as the oil was change regularly, combined with highway miles and a synthetic oil, then it's most likely pretty clean inside.

Now I would see no harm in using Auto-RX but cannot state if there would be a benefit.

If money isn't an issue, give it a try.

Yeah, he stuck with the 5K interval to a T. Looking at the maintenance manual that comes with the truck, he did most of the stuff himself and changed out every 5K, drained/refilled transmission fluid at 60K. So it seems to be in pretty nice shape.

Will think about it and see what I come up with. More than likely will eventually do it.

Thanks

I would be more concerned about the transmission myself. That probably needs some TLC more than the engine, from what you say.

Her bro seemed preety meticulous on the upkeep of it. Changed oil regularly, transmission fluid change, greased fittings. About the only thing I would want to do besides oil changes is siphon/refill the PS resevoir every 10-20K and drain/refill radiator once a year or every two years max, IF she will let me.

for less than $30.00 you can do that while you drive. There is a big benefit .Please visit http://www.auto-rx.com and read FAQ and application page for engines under 100,000 miles.

Trust me I have read all through the site and did read the FAQ's. In my '08 corolla I have had for about 3 months, I have just over 7800 miles on it, is it to early to start the maintenence dose or should I wait till after 25K??

Start the Auto-Rx Maintenance dose and stay with it.Your engine will stay clean and at peak performance no matter the miles you put on.

If you like after second maintenance application open your filter and post photos of what you see.

Extra bonus Auto-Rx will pay for oil analysis. Send sample of your oil now and after second maintenace dose to Dyson Oil Analysis. In fact I will ask Gary Allan if he will coordinate this if your interested.

Frank, speaking of engines around 25,000 miles.....

I know you can't provide a one answer fits all, but can you start a maintenance dose at that mileage or does a full clean/rinse need to be done first? I have 2 four cylinder engines that have seen all highway mileage and have 15k and 28k on them. I'd prefer to just start doing the maintenance dose if possible.

I had a 92 6 cyl Toy p/u run with syn oil since 800 miles . At 85,000 miles I did an Auto R/x cleaning ,with the valve covers off the engine looked like it was never run this was before the A R/X, any way the engine returned to its original mpg and the rinse filter had a slight dusting of black in the pleats,Think blackish baby powder. I would A R/X anything you can .Change all the fluids . Depengs on the girlfriend though.

yeah i asked if I could siphon/refill her PS resevoir. She asked "what for?" I said to put fresh fluid/additives in there, same thing with draining/refilling the radiator every year or two max, will always have fresh fluid/additives in there and will never have PS or coolant related problems.

She asked if her brother had already done that according to the service manual? I didnt check! Didn't say this but was thinking this, "you worry about your vehicle, I will worry about mine". If she wants to go to the dealership for her maintenance and pay more, go ahead.

I will be doing my own.

-Watch, hers will still outlast mine even with the preventive maintenance I will be doing!
