Called today to get quote on xmsn fluid change since I just had the MB done and figured '20 Audi Q3 should be done soon since it has 55K on it. Svc dept says it has sealed transmission so it can never be changed! Is this true? If so, what is the avg life span of such, if anyone know? I'm guessing a number of VW's also use the same xmsn.

I don't see the Q3 listed.

It's an Aisin 8-speed. Of course you can change the fluid. In fact, I think it even takes the Toyota/Aisin T-WS world spec low-viscosity fluid.

The refilling technique is likely going to require some special adapters but that's just par for the modern vehicle course.

Just had same conversation with service advisor at a lexus dealer. I told him manual said change at 60k. Just gonna do drain and refills myself. Pain, but worth it.

Check YouTube and owners forum to see if someone has done it, get extended warranty or trade car b4 trends online shows tranny slipping.

lifetime or sealed means until the warranty is GONE then its your $$$$$

I wouldnt say that. I didnt change the transmission in my 2007 Audi A6 and it was fine for the 12 years 1nd 148k miles I put on it. And after about 12 years a car will nickel and dime you so its time to get rid of anyway

VW said that wa the case for several vehicles but in reality you could change it. The Golf R with the dsg specifically says every 40k miles

Called another Audi dealer today and got same story: "its sealed and does not require draining....blah, blah". The thing is, I'm not able to do this kind of work and do not know of any aftermarket dealers that are capable of it. 57K and counting........

The Euro designers have it rigged, to make more money in the service bay than in the showroom. I watched several oil changes on the ZF 8 speed used in many Chrysler and Jeep products and had to scratch my head, why would you want to put the fill port right next to a very hot cat converter. I guess I'll stick with my old 2007 Jeep and its Chrysler 545RFE, with a DIPSTICK!
Next change I'll putting an aftermarket pan with a drain plug on, and a Lube Locker gasket. Hate RTV!
