Wondering what is recommended for the rear diff on a 2007 Audi A3 Quattro. GL4 or GL5 or does it matter? The Audi part number makes no reference and it's $22/liter. I'd thought about using Redline 75w90 or Amsoil MTF.

It calls for a GL-4 75w-90(MTG) per amsoil. I prefer redline If you use Redline call dave to see what product suits your Audi the best. Probably MTL as it is comparable to amsoil MTG. Dont quote me on that, double check it.

I'm assuming your talking about the rear diff and not the quattro drive? i used redline 75w90.. the quattro drive uses a specific oil which cant be interchanged. I recently traded my tt and have the wrench for quattro and couple tubes of that fluid if your talking about the quattro drive?

This car is a DSG with Quattro. I am looking specifically for the rear diff fluid at this time. I hear the DSG trans is quite a pain to change the fluid in and actually requires a VAG COM to do it properly.

Ditto on the DSG the autos in the vw's are a pain in the butt too and u really need a vagcom to verify the temp and levels of fluid because at different temps the levels will change causing a low or high fluid if it's outside the specified fill temp.

I'm pretty sure the rear diff would require a GL-5 oil. this oil would have ep in it? the GL-4 spec is mainly for manual transmission and doesnt have ep that eat syncros
