okay, here in the UK which is the best available filter for a my01 1.8T engine? (had run about 100k miles)
I've read there is a bigger size filter which might be better:
068 115 561B = big
06A 115 561B = small
now what I've googled the big one is for diesel engines...
thanks

The larger filter basically increases your overall oil capacity, so at least theoretically it should be better if you're doing longer oil change intervals.

VW/Audi was seeing sludge/coking problems with the 1.8T and already long oil change intervals. Their fix was to change the oil filter specification to an existing larger capacity filter, and to specify VW502.00 synthetic oil.

502.00 has always been the specification. But things got lost in translation when crossing the Atlantic, and hence all the sludge issues in North America. Fixed now.
