What is a good ATF for this vehicle?
and how many quarts does it take?

ATF+4. Probably a good 12 quarts or so for the entire system. Probably about 6 for the pan only, depending on the transmission.

11 - 14.5 quarts depending on which tranny you have.
4 - 4.5 quarts for a pan drop.

ATF+4 will work with either the Chrysler or Toyota based transmissions. You can't go wrong with Amsoil ATF or any good synthetic that will exceed ATF+4 specs.

I think you have the aisin warner tranny, not a mopar tranny.
They were designed for dex3 but atf+4 has superceded that
recomendation, probably for dealer convinience (less oil stash)
Anyway, atf+4 will work good and so does dex3 in an aisin tranny.

Not in the Grand. The XJ used the AW4 exclusively for many years. It's in my son's 96.

It's the 42re. Use ATF+4 or equivalent, DexIII will work in a jam but is not ideal.
