ATF for P/S in KIA Sedon

I have an '03 KIA Sedona.
The P/S fluid is "KIA PSF III" which, as many threads here indicate, is probably replaceable with any quality ATF of at least Mercon III specs.

I've exchanged 1 quart through the "turkey baster" method using some left over ATF+4 I have. The color is good and it sounds OK, but cold weather performance is still pretty stiff.

Which ATF would *you* use? Mobil 1? Pennzoil? Multi-vehicle or ATF+4 or Mercon V or Dexron VI?

Inquiring mind wants to know.

Mobil 1 Mercon V (used to be called Multi-Vehicle). I replaced DexIII in my Isuzu with it. Made a big difference in Alaskan winters. Since you do a TB method, figure on doing a full quart.

If it was name brand ATF+4, you're not going to find too many fluids that can outperform it. Valvoline ATF+4 is a full synthetic and probably the best.

What brand did you use?

I wouldn't bother with Mercon-V as it isn't as capable as ATF+4. And, the non-full-synthetic multi fluids are not either.

For colder performance.
I'd try a quart of Maxlife, Redline D4, or RoyalPurple MaxATF.

If its a non-visc issue, since you already have ATF+4 in there, I'd throw in an ounce or 2 of Lubegard Red or Platinum to see if it helps.

My Kia has run Pentosin CHF11s and CHF202 for the past 45k. Nothing beats it for cold flow. Gunk now sells it as "Nissan and European Full Synthetic PSF" at your local auto part store. Its also sold as Hyundai/Kia PN 00232‐19017.

I used O'Reilly house brand, if I recall properly.

How does the Valvoline ATF+4 compare to the Pentosin?

Nothing compares to Pentosin CHF.

Since you used house brand, I'd spend the $5 and run a quart of Valvoline ATF+4 to see how it does.
