ATF+4 for Honda Z-1 service

ATF+4 is considered a lifetime fill by Chrysler (under "normal" driving conditions).

That's where you get into a debate about what is considered 'lifetime' and what is considered 'normal'.
I usually just stick to comparing 'fluid A' to 'fluid B' in back to back testing in order to compare performance.

I dunno how Dex VI got into this. I was comparing Z-1 with it's manual-suggested replacement, D-III. afaik, Z-1 is a FM'ed basic transmission fluid and ATF+4 is a FM'ed synthetic transmission fluid opening the door to substitution. Before Multi-V was marketed, what, was Z-1 comparable to ATF+3? I don't even know where MercV fits in on the spectrum of more and less FMed fluids. Since fluids seem to loose their FMs and shift hard, I feel like there is room for experimentation. I need to eventually flush out some of the ARX that's in there (and working fantstic) and might try +4, see how it works and if is ok, leave it in... if not, dump it.

I'd still like to see reference of how the relative FM properties line-up.

Maybe because Dex III isn't being made anymore. Dex VI supersedes it.

I was wanting to know the same thing...

Yes, just look for the following on the label:

I talked with Dave at Redline a few months back, and he stated Redline D4 was now compatible with Honda transmissions requiring Z-F. I have Redline in wife's car, and has shifted smoothly. Amsoil ATF did well in her car before that, and really want to try Schaeffer's #204...I guess will put in anything but manufacturer's recommendations lol

For what it's worth, in our area, the TSC stores (Tractor Supply) never raised prices when +4 replaced +3. Valvolene +4 is $3.33 here in the winter wonderland.
