Could be now. I was working for them during the first oil crisis. It was their stated policy then that they weren't going to obey the gasoline price controls because they were too complex and it would be a long time if ever that the government could penalize them for it.

Maybe a little OT but............ The words Ethical and Oil Companies don't sit well with me.

I look at the pictures of Prince William Sound and how Exxon handled it, then I think about ethics..........

But then again someone feels Ashland is Ethical, who am I to say......LOL

There advertising at times is sketcky at best. Too much comparison to other companies. 4X better and so forth. I'm sure their products are fine, and in my view they need to leave it at that. No need to tear down others down. Just stand on their own quality would be by advise.

i believe ashland makes napa engine oil and they have a sale of 6 quarts with a napa silver filter on now for $5.50 .. it maybe just be this week

They weren't alone. Somewhere a decade later they all admitted that they just configured things in a manner to hide the gouging. Before that oil went from producer to refiner to retailer. After the embargo it passed through a bunch more hands.

Some OK. But GOOGLE? They just have good PR!! They use every reason, every trick, yes trick to get their code in your PC. I don't see that as ethical. I do appreciate their stance NOW in China, they should have had backbone from day one. Again, not exactly the model of ethics.

The only thing I can come up with is don't believe in these think tank award that's based on nothing.

I once work for the best employer of Silicon Valley in 2004, called Maxtor, and within 6 months they are sold to Seagate in a deal that layoff everyone with barely any layoff package.

Yeah, best employer my a__

No Google bloat on my PC, all that is optional.

I use Google search because I can't stand Yahoo's style of flashing stuff in your face at every turn. Google wins by default.

I don't believe any of these self-promoting awards either.
