I have a late model V6 Frontier that uses a tiny oil filter, and the OEM version is made in China.
I also own an early model Sentra that uses a nice old fashion over sized filter, OEM still made in Japan. They both mount the same, horizontally and they have an ADBV. I'll have to double and triple check, but assuming the threads are the same, is it OK to use the bigger (old style) filter for both? (Yes yes...probably in the grand scheme of things it makes no difference and I'll readily admit this is more for the feel-good aspect.)

Thread, Gasket Dimensions, bypass pressure. A little difference on Bypass pressure isnt going to make a difference but I feel better if its at least in the ballpark.

I don't think the old filters had a bypass in them and the new ones do. I had done a little research on this for my cousins titan. Go on wix website and put your two models in and it give the specs for both oil filters. If they are the same use the larger filter if they are differant, maybe call wix and see if they would have a larger filter for your application. Then you could use that # and cross referance it to the filter of your choice.

Care to give the specifics of the vehicles in question so we can compare the 2 recommended filters side by side??

I mean, I'm lucky that I know they're Nissans

Well...if you want to do my heavy lifting...I want to use '93 Sentra 1.6L filters on an '05 Frontier with the V6 4.0L.
