Are XG7317 and XG6607 interchangeable?

The A02 is a Fram 7317

Is Honda finally using a different oil filter? For the longest time, Honda has been using the same filter on every car.

EDIT:
I checked Fram's site and found this data from each filter's page:

So, the two cans are different in diameter by 2 thousandths of an inch, 0.002 in. That amounts to nothing.

The gaskets' inner and outer diameters each differ by less than 0.05 in, and the annular thickness (subtract the inner diameter from the outer diameter) only differs by a thousandth of an inch. Again, nothing.

The thickness shown on the table, the height/depth of the gasket, is the biggest difference besides the size of the cans themselves. That difference while less than 8 hundredths of an inch, is large relative to the thickness itself (20 vs 28 hundredths of an inch). I don't know why Fram would use a thinner gasket on the shorty :cautious:

But even the thinner gasket is OK if you don't overtorque it.

I've never seen a 6607 application where a 7317 won't fit. Most 6607 applications are former 7317 applications that got back-spec'd :sneaky:

In my mazda 3 2014, it sticks out enough that it blocks the drain bolt but other than that it is the same.
