Are semi metallic brake pads really noisy?

Centric pads are good pads. Ive been running them couple of my vehicles in past. Pretty quiet.

I use semi metallic pads on the front of my Escort, and even on vintage 1995 rotors that have never been turned, I have never had an issue with brake noise. Even with 251K miles on it. I use pretty cheap pads too (always made in USA or Canada so far).

Once again I'm reminded of what I once heard a European automotive engineer say:

"The difference between European drivers and American drivers is:
European drivers don't care if the brakes squeal- just as long as they stop the car.
American drivers don't care if the brakes stop the car- just as long as they don't squeal."

I believe that. I want my car to stop. I really don't want to deal with a lot of squeal. I don't care about brake dust though.

I find that a CoF of GG just don't give me the cold brake bite that I am looking for(or hot for that matter), similar to what you are speaking of.

Many here at BITOG still prefer the GG but not me. Look to see if the pads that you're not so crazy about are a CoF of GG and this could be the issue.

How would a GG have less cold bite than FF?

I don't doubt that in one personal experience this happened, but I've learned to ignore this repeated advice I keep seeing here- that doesn't necessarily apply to every application.
