Are liquor filled chocolates illegal in the U.S.?

It depends on the state. States make their own rules about it

Fedex, UPS, and USPS do ban most alcohol shipments. And even when they are allowed, they have to go ground (alcohol is flammable).

They used to be, on my way back from Europe in the early 80's I brought some home as gifts. I found out it was illegal when filling out my customs form.

I can sleep better at night now knowing this - what a joke.

Yea, they saved countless children from alcohol poisoning. I'd guess any kid would spit out the first bite they took. Not so much for the liquor as much as the dark chocolate.

Never heard of anyone getting hurt by them.

It's a tiny amount of cherry liquor, maybe a quarter of teaspoon, in a sugar ball covered with dark chocolate. Sometimes it's liquor infused cherry on there as well.

How I miss Europe sometimes.

I see them everywhere. Whoever sells them must have a liquor licende. I just ate Brandy beans that I got at Cost Plus.
