“Arctic Pipeline” bringing cold weather

Yea, there was a very brief forecast run that showed GA getting a foot of snow and my FB feed erupted with it. It was just one model, on one day and all the weather 'influencers' seized it and ran.

It's just gonna be cold. Just like last year. Be a good test for the new mini-split. I've been impressed with its performance down to the lowest we've had here this season, which is around 25f.

These guys are reporting this pattern every day. Accuweather is also reporting, a little less breathlessly. Of course I’m scheduled to fly that week.

I had plan to go fishing in Florida next week but I rescheduled. I don’t have a lot of desire to be in a boat with wet hands when it’s in the 30’s.

So Sharknadoes are out?
Catnadoes, as well.

The latest catchy phrase for a cold front is the “ Arctic Pipeline” . A high developing over northern Canada is expected to bring freezing temps as far south as Florida. Apparently this is forecast for the second week in January. We’ll see. Keep your begonias warm!
There's also a huge low pressure system just east of Hudson Bay also helping to drag down that cold air over the U.S.

Don't get me wrong. I used to love snow, but now it is a giant PITA for me. I don't get snow days, and if it does snow enough to cause issues here (hint, not very much snow) it completely wrecks our schedules and ability to possibly go home at the end of shift.

Sleeping at a jail with 300 inmates is not my idea of a good time, should we have to stay because the other shift can't make it in.

Nor is riding around in an old surplus HMMWV (6.2/3 speed for the win) trying to collect enough employees to secure the facility. That thing sucks to drive and has very little heat. And I believe it is a first gen model, so it is slow as dirt and smells like raw fuel even when it is fully warmed up.
