Yeah it is verizons fios service. Had comcast before this and it was horrible. Around 5pm it would slow to a crawl when everybody started getting home.

My parents downgraded to a 1.5Mbps DSL from 15Mbps cable, and are so much happier. Cable was unusable at night when college students start downloading in mass.

You'd love the VDSL2 we just had setup. Close proximity to the CO, 58/58. When we get some better equipment, we are going to try for 98/98
I have dialup in my dungeon office at work. Only have a phone line into it. Company won't buy me DSL. For $3.95 a month it's not bad if I stay off the media heavy sites. My job does not require internet access, so I use it at lunch or breaks. It makes me appreciate the 15mb down speed I have at home.

my company pays for my comcast business class internet line. I hook up a wifi router to it so my wife can surf too
Comcast works fine here, even at 5pm..unless they have an outage. It either works great or not at all, and fortunately the not at all doesn't happen often.

We had dial up until last year, and it wasn't that bad for surfing forums like BITOG, but it had its limitations... It was the only reasonable option until the internet sticks came out which is what we use now.
