Anyone use out door surge suppressor for HVAC unit?

While whole home SPDs are required by code now, I haven't really found any authoritative sources on how to properly size SPDs other than guidance from manufacturers themselves. Siemens sizes their whole home SPDs based on regions, starting at 60 kA:
Im not sure what code other than the NEC which all states do not follow. I thought that was rescinded but all I know in our brand new 2023 home in North Carolina, inspected and C/O of the year 2023 does not have one.
SO just installed was one on my HVAC system and small breaker one soon this week on my panel buss.

The NEC gets updated every year and AHJ 's are not bound to follow the latest . Some stay with a previous version for whatever reason .

So as posted in post #25, HVAC unit now has a surge protector on it.
Next will be to install a modest surge breaker in the electric panel like I posted in post #17 however, darn it *LOL* I went to install it after moving two breakers to where I wanted it to go, realized I bought the wrong one its too narrow.
I got the first two letters wrong, sometimes clicking with a mouse that can happen or can happen anytime. I purchased one that started with "QO" and the numbers & letters 2175SB.
I needed one that started with "HOM" and the same numbers & letters

It’s instantaneous fault current, not sustained.
Well that's obvious but it still has to hang in there long enough to shunt the current before the voltage can rise high enough to damage the equipment .

Following alarmguy's lead, I installed the Intermatic AG3000 surge protector device on my Trane HVAC compressor feed line today. It was a very straightforward task that took about 40 minutes working cautiously. Results are shown below.
