I used to sit in my Jeep with the ac or heater on during lunch. Not doing that any more. Gas is around $7 here
Without going political. When you print 80% of the money in 2 years alone, anything less than 4x price increase is actually a bargain.Also. As mentioned, it's not just gas prices. We see "ridiculous prices for everything" because, reasons, fair? But, people can make excuses for anything.
I think the reason people are still driving fast etc is because cars are more efficient now than ever and people still drive how they drive, I predict a summer of getting run off the road if you drive 5 over. But that's just my prediction.
Maybe when it goes a little higher, but. Even then. Am I seeing less SUVs? Maybe. Haven't been looking....
The opposite can be said: when you are on the street homeless and sick at 70, would you regret not saving and plan earlier in life so you would have less to worry. You get one life period. When your old, sitting in the rocking chair on the patio looking out in the distance, are you going to say you experienced life to the fullest or are you going to have regrets?!
I will not be living with regrets regardless of the current situation.

"In humans and other animals, fear is modulated by the process of cognition and learning. And that is exactly why I'll be In Illinois August 6th. I'm honestly genuinely looking forward to it at this point. Maybe even sip a light beer or two as time allows, maybe, maybe. To have as much fun as possible and still be legal etc. Maybe at night.. whatever it takes. Something.
It's true, you get one period on this earth and I refuse to let such obvious, transparent, stupid things change how I live my life. That is not going to happen.
Fear is a choice.
But us diesel drivers get it worse. Look at the price of diesel, higher fuel economy or not.Well combining errands would be one way. Max speed of 55 or 60 another. Working from home as many days as you can per week. Having more stuff delivered vs going out shopping.
Driving a diesel truck means I don't buy any gasoline.
And on top of buying diesel fuel a subset also need to buy DEF. About $15 for 2.5 gallon jug.But us diesel drivers get it worse. Look at the price of diesel, higher fuel economy or not.
Delivery costs have energy costs built in somehow.
Used to be cheaper. Got to enjoy the double whammy back in the day, cheaper to buy, and got more for your money. Now it sure seems like time to move on, I don't see myself getting another diesel, despite liking them. But us diesel drivers get it worse. Look at the price of diesel, higher fuel economy or not.
About how long will that last? Perhaps a better question might be what's the percentage of DEF per gallon of fuel? And on top of buying diesel fuel a subset also need to buy DEF. About $15 for 2.5 gallon jug.
Currently in Northen Illinois currently the majority of non-interstate gas stations are selling diesel for less than unleaded. Not sure if it is tax related or a local oversupply in diesel, or something else.......But us diesel drivers get it worse. Look at the price of diesel, higher fuel economy or not.
