Oil companies look at permanent refinery cutbacks

Instead of oil companies shutting down facilities, they should convert them into alternative energy facilities. That's the direction we need to move in anyway. They need to get out of the mindset of being "oil" companies and get more into becoming "energy" companies.

I'm not going to move to any of the countries at the bottom of this list but it seems their state run oil companies are quite efficient in producing gas at a low price...
Gas price by country

NOT!

They aren't suffereing losses, they just aren't making the insane profits they were making, and grew accustomed to two years ago. Oil companies aren't happy with the normal profit margins that most businesses typically make.

When we go to electric cars, we may start getting taxed by the mile. Gotta pay for the roads somehow unless we want toll roads everywhere. We need to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.

Pennsylvania will continue to have [censored] roads even if they do raise tax`s.

Absolutely. Just don't blow smoke up anyone's behind and ..basically lie. Just say that it's in their best interest in future avoided costs to lean down now ..since all of us slimes aren't going to be able to afford fuel anyway ..that they really didn't make all that much on it to begin with .but it was a good "breeder/seeder reactor" for much of the consumption that made the world go round ...at our ultimate expense. Now since we've been pretty much wrung dry ...no sense in fighting over crumbs ..the big chunks are already in other pockets.

This once fertile field has been picked clean. Time to move on to the next.

The market will give us something to fill in the blanks.

It'll be expensive, and full of intellectual property at the pointy end, but will be to our greatest advantage in the longer term.

And they'll resist letting other people in at the pointy end, because IP preserves the integrity of the market.

Just like Star anise and tamiflu versus H1N1, tamiflu, and GM yeast.

IP was preserved until just the point at which tamiflu would greatest serve humanity...
