This would be around a 2002 or newer Dodge Stratus. My co-worker was thinking of going with the Redline ATF. Is it worth the extra few bucks over say Valvoline ATF+4 synthetic? I do see the -40C viscosity on the Redline ATF+C is 3800 vs the Valvoline ATF+4 at 9000.

I always prefer Valvoline in the engine, but for tranny and rear ends I prefer Redline or other ester based fluid.

I put Redline ATF in my 2001 Town&Country minivan about 50,000 miles ago. It has run flawlessly since, although it may have run flawlessly with something else as well. I put the Redline in because the tranny in this vehicle is a little notorious for early failures, and this minivan is loaded and has all wheel drive. It weighs in at over 4500lbs empty, which is asking a lot of Chrysler's minivan drivetrain. (It goes through brakes like crazy too!) I just wanted to do everything I could to minimize problems.

I don't bother with synthetic in my cars, I just change the fluid often.

I ran their C+ in my '98 Dodge V10 farm pickup (47RE tranny). Used in Yuma, AZ. It ran fine and gave me no issues, but as with emj145 I have no special reason to think it wouldn't have also done so with something else.

Yes, I ran it in my 2001 Dodge Dakota QC SLT+ 4x4. Mine had the 4.7V8 and the 45RFE transmission. ____.com had Redline C+ for $6.95 a quart and my local DC 5 Star Stealership wanted $9.95 a quart for ATF+4 and only sold it by the gallon. Notice how they priced it by the quart but only sold it by the gallon! So I went with Redline C+ and it worked great!I have the UOA posted on this site I think I was one of the first to post a UOA on an automatic and the first adn only I belive to do one with Redline C+ATF and a 45RFE.
