I have gone 24,000 miles before, and yes I had it tested. Would I go that long again ,I might. Most the time I change yearly at 12,000 miles, because its easy to remember to change oil every year on labor day.

A couple people have. Rare, as Fred mentioned most people don't put those miles on within 12 months.

I did 20,000 miles. Per the UOA - Wear on my Volvo was less than 10,000 miles on same car with other oils. But I'll be the first to say there are at least 20+ variables that effect a UOA.

Lastly 25K on Amsoil is not a blanket statement:

As Pablo has said........most people very rarely drive 25,000 miles a year.
That said I do have a limousine/taxi, company with up to 30 Lincoln Town cars.
They have for the past 8 years been using AMSOIL 10W30. The head mech has them come in every 10,000km for a check over, at 20,000km he changes the filter. At 40,000km he changes the oil and filter.
These cars sit ideling for long periods of time then jump onto the 401 and head for Toronto or Windsor running 120kpm. They see alot of abuse.

Some do use a bit of oil and have to be topped off. Some don't. Two were retired at 850,000km and 900,000km.
Non of the cars have had any engine work.
When he first put them on he did oil anyalisis and found that the 40,000 (25,000miles) was achivaible.
He watches them very closley and that is why this program works for them.
Others may just drive their car and never check under the hood.
I personally tell my customers. You can go 2 to 3 times longer on a change.(10,000 to 15,000km)
After 13 years this has worked out well for my customers.

Don, are you running bypass filters on your fleet? And are you doing analysis of the oils at the 20,000km filter change? and thirdly, are you going with the new Ea filter and rethinking the filter change and just going 40,000km.....Thanks, this is interesting stuff.

No bypass.
They just picked up 12 AEO11 filters, but they will still be changing the filters at 20,000km. That way there is a qt of oil added to help replenish additive package.
They haven't done any analysis since the first couple back 7,8 years ago.
For what little difference the EAO filters cost he said he'll stick with what works and change 1/2 way through the cycle.
The other thing I forgot to mention was that these newer cars are to use 5W20. He is running 5W30 and will be going back to 10W30. I keep a 30gl barrel here for them.

Don: Do you mean that your mechanic intends to run 10w30 in the newer cars that call for 5W20?

Those kind of miles (over 500K) are a testament to Ford's V8 engines (as well as Amsoil oils). Are they all 4.6 modulars or are some of the older ones 5.0 OHV's?

I know this is off topic. But it has to do with what pbm said. Not only are these engines a testament of Ford's V8 engines but the 4.6 modulars in P71 Crown Vic's to. These engines take a ton of abuse and keep coming back for more. And still perform without flew day in and day out. They idle for hour apone hour everyday and if they are not at an idle they are get the plum dog **** beat right out of them. WOT runs, speeds reaching 70-80 and even 100 plus everyday, seven days a week, 365 days a year. That is just proof that these engines are close to bullet proof. They are the little engines that can.
