Anyone here still using 15w40?

Synthetic 15w-40 is hard to find in my area. 0w-40 and 5w-40 synthetic seem to be the most popular synthetic CK-4 offerings.

Synthetic 15w40s almost pass the 10W winter grade if not for the cold cranking test.
Have a look at Petro-Canada's 10W40 Duron compared to 15w40 Delo synthetic.
They are almost the same except for the CCS.

Use it in my 5.3 Vortec, and that's all it's getting. By the next change, all my ope will be 15w40. Some right now has leftovers of what I had in the shop.

The 5.3 spun over normally when it was less than 20 degrees outside earlier this year, no drama and instant oil pressure. It gets much colder than that I'm not going outside. That being said, your battery has more to do with cold crank than oil viscosity. A weak battery isn't going to perform well in cold weather.

Last oil change on my dad's 2006 F250 6.0 PSD was Rotella 15w40 and a bottle of Archoil. The truck hauls and tows on occasion and we rarely see 20F as a low temp here. The motor has been "bullet-proofed". He moved down from the UP of MI in 2015 and I believe it saw Motorcraft 15w40 from the dealer most of its life

I use it on multiple gasoline econoboxes and in a small commercial gasoline van.

All of them get the cheapest 15W-40 i can find from any reputable brand.

Since they come overloaded with additives, i run extended OCIs on them.

I have a 2007 GMC 2500HD Classic with the 6.6 Duramax diesel engine. I have always used 15W-40 synthetic engine oil, winter and summer and it has ~450,000 km's (~280,000 mi) on it now. Our winter temps sometimes get as low as, and sometimes lower than -40C (-40F) and I plug the block heater in at anything below -26C (-15F). Starting has never been an issue. I change oil every 10,000 km's (~6200 mi). Other than engine oil/filter changes, fuel filter changes, a water pump replacement and thermostat replacement, the engine has never been touched. It uses ~1/2 litre(1/2 US quart) of oil between oil changes.

New to me 06 Lacrosse, 3800 Series 3. Old oil had been in vehicle for @ 2 years, per sticker on windshield.
Harvest King 15w40 with SuperTech filter installed recently. Probably could have put kerosene in it and been ok.
This is my 4th GM 3.8 motor. They are amazing.

I use it to blend with 5w20 or 0w20 I got on discount (remaining oil on discount) to substitute 10w30. That's about it.
