Anyone here dislike Bush?

As I have stated before, I think his military prowess is good; his leftist economic policies stink.

He is by far, one of the worst commnicators I"ve seen (unless he is reading a speech) and has a very arrogant attitude. I remember when he first took office he
was so hung up on his "Texas values". I can't stand these dopes that think they have all the right answers with values. No offense to anyone but it's mainly the christian right.

I don't think he has an arrogant attitude and I think you're taking his self-confidence in the wrong context. Southern speech patterns are regional quirks. I know a lot of very intelligent people with southern speech patterns.

Values are what lead us to do the ethical (right) thing. Traditional values are being attacked because the left wants nothing but a secular society without any judgement as to right or wrong.

When Clinton was in office we heard the same thing about Republicans having this extreme dislike for him. Our collective memory is so short. The one thing that would make Bush ticket more appealing to be would be to dump Cheney this time.

I tend to veer more Libertarian so I am even more "right wing" to some than even a Republican. Federally funded education programs that dont work, prescription drug "benefits" (read: subsidy to the drug industry), etc. These are the things that the Dems want more and more of and I want to stop altogether. The immigration proposal is puzzling. He is not going to get Hispanic votes in California or Florida with that. Most of those eligible to vote are against it and he cant win this state anyway.

Pretty much sums up my position. I'd say I'm with Msparks and Jimbo here.

Given the alternatives that are being presented it looks like Dubya will get my vote...again.

Drew...could you please explain this?

Slick Willy was too busy, refusing to take BinLaden when he was offered him, too busy cutting back on the military, to busy cutting back and trashing our foreign spy network, and mostly too busy with Monica, cigars and staining dresses-. He didn't have much time to warn Bush about anything.

well, according to **** cheney, you fight (and win) wars with the previous administration's military.

must not have been in too bad of shape...

Thats true. I think I do take him the wrong way sometimes. I also agree the Lefts economic policies are dangerous. My father in law is a former Mobil Engineer. He now works for Valero. He is from Texas and has a southern accent. Smart guy. I didn't mean to offend anyone if I did by saying that. I wasn't really refering to his accent but more of his pauses in between what he is trying to say...like "a" and "um".

I don't like Bush and I beleive everybody here is aware of that. I also don't like people telling me what Al Gore WOULD HAVE done if he was in office during the 9-11 attacks. We don't know what he would have done, and he doesn't know what he would've done because he was never placed in that situation.

All of the people that say the democrats cut military funding, I feel the need to remind them that a democrat was in the oval office almost every time this county entered a major war.

Must I also remind everybody what was done to military funding during the prior bush administration?

Is Bush doing a good job? NO. Can somebody else do a better job? MAYBE, and we need to give that person a chance (as long as it isn't Dean).

IMO (and George Washington's), political parties shouldn't exist in this country. Party affiliation doesn't mean that my views are the same as the party's views. Colen Powel is a prime example of a person who's views are different than the party he is affiliated with.

The whole political system in this country has gone to he!!. If you don't steal and BS your way to the top, you'll never get there.

Well ...a whole lot of disatisfied voters here.

Most of us vote on a "one dimensional" plank ..be it pro-life ..right to bear arms ...etc. Yet all that we really do is hand the reigns over to someone who's going to bone us in many other ways while giving us our ONE concession.

Dummiecrats tax and spend - Big government and pay as you go. You are subjugated via taxation. They weaken our military and contiue to move us toward a socialist-authoritarian government.

Rubmypalmagains borrow and spend - Let the future take care of our debt. Besides being good for the military ..they tend to get us into very expensive wars.

They are both screwing us ...you choose the texture of the violation. Among other ways ..they subjugate you via national debt.

Some prosper and profit from global stability.

Some prosper and profit from global instability.

That's my vote of protest. I typically vote for EVERY third party candidate (typically Libertarian) as my objection to politics as usual.

Well this is crap....binny was offered to willy....willy didn't do a thing!......willy shouldn't have told anything to anyone.......willy should've fix the problem instead of passing the hot potato
wink.gif

willy jacked up the economy with his outrageous taxes........willy had a big surplus......BUT, at what price......willy cost our economy trillions and countless job........willy once again passed the hot potato to georgie boy.......the recession officially started 2 months after willy left DC.....as bad as georgie has been with the economy (supposedly), the recession is something we shouldn't attribute to him.

I disagree with some of Bush's policy.....I am an immigrant myself and since I'm already here, it is very easy for me to say "shut the borders." I think Bush's plan for naturalizing so many millions "could" be a bad idea. It is know most immigrants are poor and are sucking up welfare money......many are unemployed and happy about it....and many are involved in drugs, murder and such illegal acts......not ALL.....but many. Also, how many more people can this country take before we run out of space or lose control?

People complaint about the Iraq war.....but operation northern and southern watch costs us billions anyway.....might as well get rid of the problem and spread democracy in the process.

The economy is boucing back.....and very strong! There is some of this recovery based solely on hopes and it could backfire bigtime. Jobs are still illusive, but hopefully we will see more hireings soon.

Lieberman is the ONLY democrat that would get my vote. He's been pushed to the side in favor of radicals....goes to show this country is walking a fine line between democracy and communism/socialism/others.

With that said, I will vote for Bush despite his pretzel chokin', nuclear pronouncing, sloppy fallin.....so on and so on. I believe the competition does not stand a chance.

Agree 100% with Drew. Bush makes us look bad to the rest of the world. Leaving our debt to the next generation. Punk'd us all on the WMD in Iraq...no that's not our only reason but he burned our credibility on the WMD/connection to Bin Laden issues. Irresponsible environmental agenda.

November should be yet another lesser of two evils choice.

At least there will be no Bush/Dean face off. Good to see Dean got OWNED in Iowa. Hope that knocks some wind out of his sail. I really, really don't want to vote for Bush come November but unless the Democrats can muster somthing better, well....I'll have to vote Libertarian again.

I guess I can hope against hope. Blake Ashby, Republican for president. Theodore Roosevelt kind of guy. http://www.ashby2004.com/

but Last Z, bush was to be above slick willy, not.

the big speech, the first half hour, terror terror war terror WMD terror teror, Iraq terror. yep, he is trying to scare the people

Strange you say that, because the liberals are very excited that Bush had plans to invade Iraq before 9/11. So did Clinton, but why let reason get in the way of a good Bush bash, LOL.

As far as what Clinton may or may not have said, the guy is a proven liar and unless I hear it on tape, his words are worthless.

Keith.

I see a lot of things I agree with here, basically I think we were lucky it was Bush in office instead of Gore granted we do not know what Gore would have done but I fear he would have given binny the internet or electric cars instead of taking serious action to stop him. I am far from agreeing with everything Bush has done, the Immagration thing is a real sore spot for me but all in all I feel he is the lesser evil.
Unfortunately with the screwed up party system we have now the best we can do is vote for the lesser evil while looking for a way to fix the system.

I never understood the Clinton bashing, but did understand the contempt for his treatment of women and abuses of power. About the only thing I can see that generates such hatred for Bush, at least from the far left, is that he is born again. On a range of issues, from steel tariffs, prescription drugs, Hispandering, and many others, the liberals would gleefully support if they were advanced by a democrat. The liberals who saw how some Republicans let their hatred of Clinton go too far, are now making the same mistake.

To give someone else a chance, you had better have something more than just a desire for any kind of change. That is surely going to lose big next November. At least Kerry has a few positive messages interwoven with his harmful Bush hatred. Dean is basically the anti Bush. Edwards is just a trial lawyer and I don't see the nation electing a lawyer to win World War IV. Weasley Clark? It's only a matter of time until we find out why President Clinton fired him. Lieberman? I like him as a Senator, he was a disaster as Al Gore Jr. clone VP candidate. Who does that leave?

(answer - Hillary!).

Keith.

I was not impressed with Bush until after 9-11. He seemed to stand up as a leader after 9-11. There is a real question about what happened in Florida that resulted in Bush becoming President and Gore not making it. But regardless what may or may not have happened in Florida, I am glad Bush handled 9-11 and not Gore.

I am impressed overall with how Bush has handled the war on terror. It can be argued whether we should have gone into Iraq or not, but Mr. Dean, the world IS a better place without Saddam Hussein. Anybody who does not think so should go to Iraq and view the 300,000 or 400,000 or 600,000 or 1,000,000 bodies of murdered human beings.

I am not satified with the security of our borders and with the illegal situation. But it is not just Bush who will not handle this situation-the Democrats will not either. Americans do lose jobs to illegals. The Republicans and Democrats will not do anything about this situation for one reason-votes. They want the votes of Hispanics and they think that they can get those votes by allowing illegals to reside in our country. My family, on both my father's and mother's side, came to this country legally, and became American citizens. Not so long ago I read in my cities' newspaper an article by a guy who said that Mexico was regaining what it had lost to America. But most of the Hispanic people I know are proud to be American citizens-they don't want to be citizens of Mexico. I attended school with an individual who used to boast endlessly about his Scottish ancestry. He asked me one day what nationality I was-I told him I was an AMERICAN. I didn't say that I was Irish or Irish American. I am proud of where my family came from, but I am an AMERICAN. A lot of people want to come to this country and some when they get here seem to feel that they don't have to have loyalty to the country that gave them a home and freedom and equal opportunity.

I am a registered Democrat. I am moderate to somewhat liberal in most of my beliefs. The Democratic Party left me and went far to the left. Clinton was a disaster for this country in terms of national defense, in my opinion. His method of handling the terrorist Osama bin Laden was to launch a few cruise missles. I look at the Democratic candidates and I am sad-saddened by the lack of quality. But I just cannot join the Republican Party-to me, the Republican Party is still the political party of the rich and privileged.

I respect many of the things Bush has done in office. I don't totally support him in all ways. But I see no reasonable alternative. The silly garbage that the top leaders in the Democratic Party worry about is of no importance to me. I worry about the economy. I worry about national defense. I see no alternative but to vote for Bush.

well, the born again thing is hardly believable, as he's mocking born again carla fay tucker prior to her execution. religion is the last resort of the scoundrel.

steel tariffs pissed off plenty of (union) people whose jobs were eliminated by companies who suddenly had to pay more money for (lower quality) steel. plus, it's hypocritical for a "free market" guy to be randomly imposing tariffs.

the prescription drug plan is simply a sop to the insurance and drug companies. this plan will benefit very few people who aren't ceo's of health care companies. again, a "small government" politician at work.

many "liberals" are union people who know that the influx of temporary immigrant labor will not be restricted to migrant farm labor. pretty soon we will lose what's left of our factory jobs to workers who have no rights, no pay, no benefits. plus the company that hires them practically owns them, as they can be sent back from whence they came on a whim.

some of us "libruls" weren't big clinton fans. he wasted many great opportunities to make life better, and he created an backlash that allowed the current administration to flush environmental regulations, increase corporate welfare, start an unnecesary war, and gut our budget.

if you're a real liberal (old school) then you've probably been pissed off for about 40 years. bush is just icing on the cake.

I think I would have to say that the last President who has INSPIRED me was President John Kennedy (and not Edward Kennedy). I don't know where Kennedy will wind up in the history books-maybe he will be considered average. But he didn't have much time either. If you compare the Democratic leadership of today with John Kennedy there is no comparison. The Democrats have lost their way.

This country does not seem to produce Lincoln's anymore.

I think you've hit it spot on. Through my relatively politically inexperienced eyes (admittedly conservative eyes) I see a 180 degree shift in the modern democrat parties philosophy. JFK said "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country". If a democrat congressman/senator said that today there is no way they'd get the nomination. In fact, I think they'd be kicked out of the party.

Mikep

Many people in this country today, including much of the current leadership of the Democratic Party, say 'Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you.' They somehow have gotten the message backwards. I don't know what happened to them. They have forgotten President John Kennedy's message completely.

It is a continuing mystery to me how people who claim that they were inspired by John Kennedy have somehow twisted his message around.

To me, national defense and the economy are more important then worrying about gay marriage or worrying that young girls will not be able to get an abortion easily. Now understand, I am not discriminating against anybody and I am not saying we should leave anybody behind. But a national political party that is concerned with 5%-10% of the people and ignores 90%-95% of the people is a national party no more.

'Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.'

Gut "our" budget? Have you taken a look at government spending the last 3 years, LOL. Hint - it's WAY up, even after factoring out the defense part of the budget. If a democrat were behind these spending programs, the liberals would love them. The irrational Bush bashing is tiresome and the liberals need to get over their failures.

i'm not a fan of big government programs. i'm even less of a fan of crushing debt that will make it impossible to fulfill the obligations we do have. if my wife and i lived the way the bush administration does, we'd have a million dollar house, a couple of bentley's, and then we'd quit our real jobs to work at mcdonald's.

anyone who thinks it's ok to continually spend more than you take in needs a swift kick in the butt.
