Anyone here blend PCMO and HDEO?

Hello gentlemen and ladies. Does anyone here other than Mongo161 blend PCMO oils with HDEO's? I acquired a 91' 4whl drive long bed pickup with about 76k on it. Been sitting in a old garage for a while now. Put some Rotella T5 10W30 in it for the time, and runs good, drove to work in it. I was thinking of blending some of the T5 Rotella with some Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20 I got while back on sale. Just wondering if anyone here uses a blend like mongo uses or no.

blending different oils is pointless and produces a weaker oil than either was originally.

blending same brand and same type may be ok.

Im curious too. I have some Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 that I would love to mix with some Rotella T6 5w40 for the Civic ( its loud as h@#l ) in a 2:1 ratio. I want to see if this will quiet the engine down at all.

Anyone mix T5/T6 with any other Sopus problems with good success ???

I may do something like blending some T6 5w40 Rotella with my Quaker State Ultimate Durability for my civic next oil change. 50/50 blend should be ok

I added ~200cc of Rotella T6 to my wife's Civic yesterday, because it's currently at 15% oil life (~5500 milse) and I won't be able to change the oil until after we get back from honeymoon (leaving this Sunday for two weeks.) Her mom (not the greatest driver) will be using it for the two weeks we're gone.

I don't know how much additive the 200cc added, but it prevented me from having to open a new bottle of Nextgen, and was enough to bring the level on the dipstick up to a full reading.

In the future, I'd have no problems mixing a HDEO with her normal 5W-20 PCMO, so long as it wasn't more than around 1/4 of the total, or 1 qt. In other words, to top off I would, but never as an intentional mix. If our vehicles require something, that's what they get; no need to play backyard chemist.

I am running 4 quarts of rotella t6 5w-40 and 2 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 in my Jeep 4.0 it runs great quiet and smooth.

Running 50/50 Rotella T 15W40 & NextGen Maxlife 10W30 in the '98 Cherokee 4.0-better oil pressure & quieter than the 10W30 that was in it when I bought it 1000 miles ago, now at 210,000.

Currently running 4 qt's of the good 'ol Delo SAE30 and a quart of GTX 10W30 in the Maxx. Works well and is roughly a $5 oil change.

Bullwinkle, I have a far jug of NEXTGEN 10W40 I got and some rotella 5w40 T6, may blend some of that up for a oil change.

Try the "ZANZABAR BLEND" everyone! 3 parts G-Oil 5w30 + 1 part any 40wt HDEO. For use in european turbo gasoline engines calling for 40wt lubes with fancy specs (VW 502, MB229.5, etc).

One Gallon Mobil Delvac (about $10 net after rebate) + 4 quarts Mobil Super 10W-40 (essentially FREE after Rebate) + a $3 (extra cost over the one that came with the Mobil Super) filter = one pretty good oil change for an old MB V8, IMHO.

I've got enough of these kinds of inexpensive future oil changes (NextGen MaxLife 10W-40 + Blue, etc.) sitting on the shelf that I wonder when I'm gonna' ever get into my stash of gallon jugs of AME. Maybe after a top-end rebuild, some day...

I'm running a 65/35 mix of T6 and Rotella T right now in my 240D. I've run that mix before even in a 50/50 mix and it's run great. Reason I run this mix as opposed to straight T6 is because my oil consumption always goes down with this blend.

I'm thinking of running a 50/50 mix of Rotella T and Shell Full Synthetic 5w30 for my next oil change in the LX450. I am even thinking of running a 50/50 mix of Rotella T and Shell Full Synthetic 5w30 in my 240D during the cold winter months (as I'm out of T6 currently). But I'm not sure if I should try that mix in a diesel engine.

Surprising... civic is spec'd for 5w-20 so what is this loud noise ?
Have you ever used 5w30 in your civic (what year ?) ?

I would like someone to illustrate how a weaker oil is created from a HDEO mixed with PCMO, weaker than the PCMO in the first place.

Mixing a 9 tbn with a 8 tbn of different brands creates a 2 before any acid is introduced etc.

I dont think it would hurt a thing. It does not matter what a car is spec'd for. I have used 5w30 and 10w30 blended
