anyone excited about spiderman 3?

Well, I saw it. The movie needed definitely more drawn-out, tedious scenes with Spidey's gramma or aunt or whoever she is, it needed a fourth moronic story arc, it needed a fourth villain, and, most of all, it needed another 40 minutes more CGI to make it even more idiotic. I suppose the average 12 year old vidiot will love it.

The only enjoyable scene was Bruce Campbell's rather long cameo.

Sure enough some jacka** brought their stupid screaming kid in there and took their sweet-a** time getting the kid out. When someone told the person to get the kid out, they yelled back "Shut up." Luckily that only happened once, another kid began screaming a little later in the movie but they were immediately taken out. Nothing against kids, but there are places they do not need to be.

Anywho, it was great, I would encourage you all to go see it. Aside from Mary Jane singing, everything about it was enjoyable. Unlike what the critics said, they did not try cramming too many stories into one movie, it was balanced nicely to incorporate all necessary ideas. Though I wish there was more of Venom, but you can only do so much with the symbiote that attaches to two characters in less than 2.5 hours.

What is with bringing kids to movies?! Love one cheap theatre I went to - old man behind the crying kid (whose parents made no effort to quiet/remove) yelled SHUT UP!!! (a long 5+ second shut up). It was enough to startle the crying kid so he/she stopped for the rest of the movie. A lot of us couldn't help laughing. I'll always remember that.

On topic: My whole family has gone to see it. They say it is REALLY good. Disadvantages of work + college = no time for movies. I'd rather buy the DVD and watch it on my computer.

Yeah, people should get babysitters. Or maybe these are the babysitters in the theater. It's really annoying.

As I said I thought the movie sucked all in all. I did enjoy Marko trying to get himself together after being hit with the particle beam. That scene was almost lyrical and was effective as character sketch. And that particular CGI moment was cool. Worth a quarter of a billion dollars? Well...

I was never into any comics or graphic novels, I read books. When I say I don't care for the movie, I'm talking only about the movie without comparing it to the comic books on which the characters are based. It is ridiculous if people are disappointed by the movie version of a book (or a comic) just because of what they consider changes in spirit/character or story. Take the LOTR books. I have been a fan since I was little, and, unlike many of the hardcore LOTR fans, I do love the LOTR movies. Sure, the movies are different from the books due to all sorts of changes, but what works on the written page does not necessarily work well on the screen.

Judging from a cinematic viewpoint, Spider-Man 3 is trying to cram in too much into too long a movie. If a roller coaster ride is what you like, sure, then it's fine. If you want more, it's a disappointment. The movie seriously bored me to tears most of the time. I found Dunst's stage performance in the beginning outright off-putting. Spielberg knew how to open a movie effectively with a show sequence ("Anything Goes") in 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.' Sam Raimi is a good director, but making a movie that has a budget of 250 million dollars cannot be a liberating experience. Everything gets just too big. In effect, the characters all have become flat, or should I say "cartoonish"?

I suppose I'm more a The Shadow and Sin City fan when it comes to movies based on graphic novels.

Would never expect a Spiderman movie to be anything more than mindless entertainment. Sometimes that's the best! enjoyed both earlier movies, and was a big fan WAAAAAy back in the sixties. Favorite comic based movies still X men though.
