Anyone ever notice ZTR mowers seem to run on empty forever?

I'm talking about the fuel gauge. Maybe they're always a bit short? So they show empty when they're not? I know when you top it off, the float is probably drowning in gas for a while. To me it just seems like these ztr mowers run forever on empty

Probably depends on how close the fuel is to the float, especially if mowing a hill.

I never use enough gas while mowing to run it to empty. I always fill it back up after mowing, and refill the gas can before mowing again.

Same thing for the open frame generators. I have never seen a gauge on one of them that was any where near accurate.

I always have to thump the gauge with my finger to make it move .
Should be able to just rock the mower back and forth with one gentle tug with your arm before starting, or something if you already started it. Move it forward and stop

Gravely/Kawasaki. All I know is mine gives you about 5 revolutions before it quits, no warning at all. No fuel gauge, just a useless window down between your legs. I would like to put a motorcycle type valve with a reserve tap on it. But I just fill it up, that's plenty for my yard.

Yeah they do shut off quick

Most of the fuel gauges don't reach all the way to the bottom of the tank, but only 2/3 or 3/4 of the way down. My grandfather's Scag is like this. He always thinks he is out of gas because it is showing empty, but in reality he has 1/3 of a tank left.

I'll have to give mine a looksie the next time it's low. I can barely see the float when it shows empty.

My JD Z320m is terrible. You get a hiccup and that's it. Hope I'm close to the barn. No fuel gauge and the tank is the same color as the fuel so you have to use a flashlight to shine down on the top to see where the fuel level is.

I put a low level led on it with some success. It fell off once, another time I had to tweak the sensitivity on it. After that the next time I went to start it , it was out of gas with the light on. Kind of hard to see in the bright sun when you're running. I'd hook up a buzzer but wearing ear muffs doubt if I would hear it. I need a bright light down by my feets.

The gas tank is the biggest negative so far with the mower.
