Anyone else turn everything off when you stop the car?

As long as I can remember when I put my vehicle in park I turn all the accessories off before I shut the engine off. Thinking has always been it probably isn't the best for the AC compressor and/or the blower motor to come on hard from a dead stop. Radio too because I like to hear the start-up in case something is off. This started back when I was driving $300 junk and I just kept doing it. Don't know if it helps anything but can't hurt.

Sometimes I'll turn just the A/C compressor off the last couple minutes of a drive (if it's not too hot out) to try and dry the evaporator a little but otherwise everything stays on. Most cars today allow you to set the maximum startup volume for the radio so no need to even turn that down anymore.

If you live in a cold climate, wipers off is a must so they don't freeze to the windshield or get covered in snow and try to cycle when you start it up the next time.

No, but I do try to idle down for a bit to cool the turbocharger down a little.

No, I just get out and walk away. Don't shifft into whatever. No turning off anything; there is no engine, it does whatever it does. My old timer cars confuse me. Too much nonsense to remember.

Just gotta remember to take my phone. It barks at me if I don't.

I turn off wipers and AC. That's about it.

I figure that if the heat was on before, I'll probably need it the next time I start the car. Radio stays wherever it was, no problem there.

Newer cars are all computer controlled. No problem starting the car with the AC still "ON". The car will start, then the computer will engage the compressor when it is safe to do so. Some cars the compressor is run by an electric motor and not even tied to the engine.

In any modern car, you aren't directly controlling any of those things. You are "requesting" a setting and the BCM or whatever is deciding how to implement your request.

Absolutely, happy to hear i'm not the only one thinking about this. Turning everything off will prevent spikes or slumps of voltages. Will it make a difference, I think so. Especially, air compressor.

No, because I want it to be on when the car turns back on. Especially AC. The infotainment takes a bit to connect to Android Auto anyway, so it's going to be quiet until the phone connects.

I just want to make sure the lights (on cars without auto lights) and wipers are off, but that's pretty much it. Most of the time I drive with the radio off, so it's probably not even on in the first place and I'll (sometimes) preadjust the AC/heater to whatever I need the next time I drive the car.

I turn everything off as a force of habit from driving cars from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

I don't bother idling to let the turbo spool down. My last bit of driving is a crawl through the neighborhood and that should do it. The worst thing you can do is come off of freeway speed to a dead stop and shut off the engine. I've read that the turbo can take up to a full minute to spool down.

In high school I used to prank my friends by turning everything on in the car... wipers, radio full blast, and blower motor before they start the car. Then it's a scramble to turn everything off.

My Volvo keeps running the fan after I turn it off to cool the turbo down. I would wager the Mercedes does the same thing.
