the smell of mowing the grass this spring?
There is still over 2 months of COLD weather here in Kansas,
but I am so ready to fire up the OPE.
(And then I am always so ready to put it away in November)

Anyway..... already dreaming of spring here in Ks.

Kansas winter is a lot like fall for much of us.....and don't you worry! I dropped $1300 on a snow blower for a Nov storm. We haven't had snow since! It was bound to happen. It's been all sleet and ice.

Ha!
I know it is colder in many places... but Ks can have some wicked cold as well!
I've often wondered what is is like to have a winter like some of you folks up north.
Sub Zero........ Sub Sub Zero!

When is is freezing cold in Ks I think it must be BRUTAL up north. Guess it is all what you are used too I suppose.

But then again... there are folks in the SE or or SW that think we here in KS have it rough!

In any event..... everyone stay warm and hang in for a couple more months!

It's a good three months off for us.
I do find the first few cuts of the spring to be enjoyable.
By the time it becomes tedious, we usually run through a couple of months of dry weather when the grass hardly grows at all.
Depending upon the waether, first cut will come any time between the last week in March and the third week of April here.
I might have enough buck a gallon gas (after Kroger fuel points) bought this winter to get through the entire season, depending upon how much rain we get over the summer.
Keep the faith!

Feel free to come mow my grass! Bring your own mower, or you can use mine. It'll be in the mid 80's here this weekend.

Ugh, NO! I mean, I love the warm weather, but I despise mowing lawns and yardwork in general. The day I winterize my lawn equipment is the happiest day of the year for me. I dread the day I have to drag them out of the shed in a few months.

Amen!

I planted perennial ryegrass at the beginning of November.

That stuff looks like a plush green carpet after it's mowed. I really like it.

**** I don't know....... IMHO I think the only thing better than having a cold one as the sun sets on a freshly mowed and trimmed landscape is how it looks early the next morning as the sun is rising with a cup of coffee. YMMV! LOL

I hate mowing grass, it doesn't help that I have a fairly steep hill in the front yard. It only takes about 40 minutes to push mow my lawn, but by the time I'm done I just pray that we don't get any rain so that I can skip the next weekend.

Nope. Although I did the last mow of the leaves this afternoon. Changed the oil in the riding mower and put it away. If it's like last year I'll be mowing in the beginning of April.
