Any reason not to use Amsoil metric motorcycle oil in our Can am maverick?

I'd use it once, since you already have it... but then I'd also come up with a long term plan of using something that better meets CanAm's recommendations.

Guessing that this is a Can-Am side X side, they're not too picky on oil. API SN OR JASO MA2 in viscosity grade of 5W-40 through 10W-50 is the general recommendation. Unless you're racing this thing in Death Valley the 5W-40 Amsoil should be fantastic. Once it's gone and if you don't want to order any more, you can use a automotive 5W-40 with API SN procured from your favorite local store that sells oil.

Both my 1200cc 4S Ski Doo's spec 0-40w. Ski Doo specs and sells that for my sleds. I would not use a 0 bottom number in summer temps. in a SxS or wheeler.

Why not? A typical 0W-40 is going to be fairly high viscosity at room temp during summer. The 0W refers to really cold temp flow and pumping characteristics. But in context it's likely to be fairly thick during cold starts.

The oil is jaso- ma rated( might even be MB rated). The sxs does not use a wet clutch.
I have been lazy these days and use the Amsoil SxS oil change kits. Comes with everything you need for the oil change and is very convenient. I don't think you can go wrong with Amsoil. My X3 CanAm is

Spendy though. We have an Amsoil brick and mortar store here. He had the oil I have on clearance for $3/ qt.

What you have will work fine. Personally, I use Rotella T6 5w40 in my 23' Can am Defender HD10 as do many others. I also added a Spin on oil filter adapter from Mr. Rpm. Uses an automotive spin on filter instead of the cartridge. Makes oil changes much easier!

T6 is one of my favorites also. Wet clutch or not, it always does a great job and is priced right (y)
