Greetings:
The 9007 bulb is supposed to fit in a 9004 light if you clip 2 of the locating tabs on the light.9004 is only 45/60 bulb - poor design, all others are 55/60 standard (not counting korean flamethrower 60/130 etc.), which is big lumen difference on low beam used daily. The filament is oriented differently, anybody tried this? any glare? this was a popular Nissan conversion supposedly. My Volvo 245 and 94 Dakota pu both use 9004 and conversion to anything else is difficult and expensive. Any thoughts?

I've done this in my 1994 Explorer. You have to switch the low beam and ground wire (but don't take my word for it as it was a while back)

Instead of cutting the wires and reconnecting, I just disassembled the headlight connector and switched the pins.

If someone tends to flash me while i'm on low beam you can just flash them back to show that you aren't on high beams.

But they shouldn't as the 9007 bulb is used in all the newer vehicles.

The filament is in the wrong position when trying to convert 9004 to 9007. Glare is going to be a problem.

I actually have 9004 myself and upgraded to Philips VisionPlus bulbs which helped quite a bit over the standard bulbs. It wont blow you away, but it about the best legal bulb you can get for 9004. Visibility went from abysmal to acceptable.

If you upgrade your wiring harness you can improve even more if want to go that route.

Or you could put your vehicle back to stock and stop blinding oncoming traffic.

Except when they're converted properly, and wired up right, they don't blind oncoming traffic. The wattage is the same as all the new vehicles, and I realigned the lenses after the conversion (they were way out due to the filament position)
