Close your eyes and just listen. Seventy-five years ago a 45 degree v-twin still sounds like it does today. There is something primal about that sound.
 
Definitely sounds familiar. If Harley's didn't sound that way nobody would want one. Everyone likes that wild beast sound and feeling you get from a Harley Vtwin. Much more of an experience than you get with the Honda sewing machine sound.
 
A good running 45deg sounds good (at idle), but even good music is obnoxious if played too loud and too often. Too many of them on the road now and the novelty has worn off.

Have to agree with you. I guess I'm getting old.
