Another ZDDP question....sorry

Hello People:

Fisrt post. Been reading since a while though.

I’m about to get a rebuilt GM350 5.7L engine (possibly < 1981). By reading some of the post herein I can tell I just cannot get neither Delo nor Rotella-T. The only available oils are:
Mobil 1 0W-40
Mobil 1 5W-50
Mobil 1 5W-40 Turbo truck
Motul xcess 5W-40
Motul 913C (I use in my LR, but maybe too thin)
Rotella X plain 30-40 and
a variety of 4T bike oils.

I would like if you could through some thoughts on this for both braek in period and afterwards. Much appreciated.

Out of those oils, my choice is Mobil 1 0w40, but I also think that a freshly rebuilt Chevy 350 doesn't need anything heavier than a 30-weight. But I wouldn't go with a straight 30-weight. The Motul 913C is a 5w30 and would be OK for viscosity, but probably doesn't have a safe amount of zddp for the sliding cam followers. Is this engine carbureted or fuel injected?

Is Rislone ZDDP engine additive available there? It will turn most anything into a high ZDDP oil for break in.

Unfortunately no ZDDP on the shelf. The Specific 913C has around 0.12 Zn and 0.10 P (%). However, this oil is on the lower end of viscosity for a 5w30( ca. 9 and 58 cSt) and quite low HTHS of 3.1 or so.

So, not sure if that is a problem.

Actually there is no such thing like ZDDP adittive, but I think I can get one of those Royal Purple break in oils. Is that the same stuff?

Do you have a GM dealer in Chile? You could get some General Motors Engine Oil Supplement #88862586.

Mobil 1 0w-40 should be fairly easy for you to find and is an excellent oil.

6 1/2 quarts of Mobil 1 0w40 and one can of the GM OES on a Blackstone analysis will increase the following to:

- Molybdenum:.......551 ppm
- Boron:...............151 ppm
- Calcium:............3318 ppm
- Phosphorus:........1271 ppm
- Zinc:................1469 ppm

I would think that if you can get EOS, then you could probably get GM Goodwrench oils. No?
